Carrying Sigma 150-500

Having just purchased a Sigma 150-500 I'm just wondering about carrying it. It does come with a shoulder strap but I don't like it and anyway it just slides off my shoulder. So I'm planning to carry it using my Black Rapid strap attached to the tripod mount. Are there any issues with doing this? It'll be attached to a Canon 7D so a combined weight of about 2.73kg.

I wouldn't have thought so, I used to carry mine using the supplied strap, but round my neck, rather than over my shoulder, but then I've never trusted even just the camera on my shoulder, slips off far too easily.

Mine is either on my BR or my monopod over my shoulder.

Bearing in mind that I wasn't exactly in the best of health when I had mine, I used to carry it in its bag round my neck. Eventually (probably after just a couple of outings), I decided that it was the lens causing all sorts of shoulder problems so I got rid of it. Didn't use it much since I found it too heavy to carry round all the time on the off chance I'd want it. IF I get another one (and that's a very big IF!) and want to carry it round, I reckon I'd stick an OpTech neoprene strap on its bag to reduce the loading.

I carry my 50-500mm OS attached to a 7D on a BR type strap with no problems.

I use mine with a Q-Strap connected to the tripod mount on my 5D3 and 70D and have no problems with the weight. I also have a twin harness that takes the 150-500 and one body and my Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS II with a 2x extender and other body on the other side of the harness. As long as I keep myself balanced I don't seem to suffer with aching shoulders and I can carry that setup around for 4-5 hours without a problem.
