Ok been looking for a compact camera as a carry round, holidays pics, family pics etc

I've seen a panasonic lx100 for 350 2nd hand, or the sony rx100 which is 260 new at moment.

Both decent sensor size, but keep flip flopping between them. I just can't seem to decide.

Any suggestions advice...

I use Sony and Panasonic kit. Personally I find the Panasonic cameras offer slightly better image quality out of the camera. Sony cameras are a touch more user friendly. I've ended up with a mix of the 2 for no other reason than I found that one or the other offered features I wanted at a particular time. If you get either brand I'm pretty sure you'll be pleased.

Thanks, read far to many posts and watched to many videos trying to narrow down to these two, my head's just swimming with opinions.

There is also the Panasonic TZ100 with a 1in, 20.1MP sensor and a 25-250mm equivalent f/2.8-5.9 Leica DC lens.
The electronic viewfinder is on the small size.

IQ wise you can’t go too wrong with most CC’s.sensor size equivalent that is so it’s all down to personal preference regarding handling ,menus eve or not fiddly or not.
Which you already know I guess but handle as many as you can in places like John Lewis Jessops curry’s and don’t fret over IQ you will probably keep going back to the one that feels right, don’t know how much time you have before deciding but spend it handling is all I can offer

If it's the RX100 MkI or II, the LX100 is night & day better (bigger sensor, EVF etc).

MkIII & IV it's closer but the sensor on the Panasonic will always win out IMO.

Popped down to my local camera shop today, for a good look and play.
Rx seemed good, small and handy.
But the LX felt better in the hand, a bit more intuitive to use.
Just need to decide if it's worth the extra Dosh.

exactly where handling them comes in.the LX100 is a lovely camera to handle IMO,much nicer than the sony but not shirt pocketabale but if I really liked one more and it was
costing more,i would wait till i could afford it or would regret it for ages after lol
