Afternoon all,

Having recently acquired a Canon 70-200mm f/4L I'm looking to replace my Lowepro Rezo 180 AW with something a little more... roomy. The kit I'll be carrying around with me consists of:

Canon 60D + grip
Canon 70-200mm f/4L
Sigma 30mm f/1.4 + Canon 50mm f/1.8 or Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 (non VC)
Canon 85mm f/1.8
430 EX II (soon to be 580 EX II)
Lastolite Ezybox Speed-Lite
Misc memory cards, cables, gels and... stuff

I have a Lowepro Fastpack something-or-other but it's a little too bulky to carry around. I've been looking at the Crumpler Cupcake 7500 as I like the idea of a messenger-style bag (and it's as close as I can find to the not-sold-here 7 Million Dollar Home that I've been people rave about), but I'm also not entirely sure the internal dimensions will accommodate the 70-200 let alone the rest of my kit.

Anyone have the 7500 and can attest as to whether it'll accommodate the above? If not, any other suggestions would be gratefully received.

EDIT:

Forgot the Tamron 17-50mm, but in truth I'll either be carrying around the 30mm and 50mm primes or the Tamron depending on the assignment.

Check out the link below...loads of info on most of the bags currently on the market.....Think Tank Retrospectives get my vote for carry around but not sure you will find one to lug all of your gear around...

Think Tank Retrospective 20 takes a 70-200 f2.8 attached and standing vertically and gives you two columns to store your other stuff, has a front pocket and looks the least like a camera bag of anything i've yet seen

I like my F4AF, it can carry my 70-200 2.8 VR, but not with the camera... :(

But it carries LOTS of stuff ;) like the flash and, most important, water!

Thanks everyone, I'll take a look. I actually took a trip to the Crumpler store in Bristol yesterday to take a look at the 7500, only to find that the only thing in the shop was a "Goodbye Bristol" sign in the window.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation I have a flipside 400 which is fantastic for holding lots of stuff and passportsling for holding a very small amount of stuff.
Did you mangae to look at the crumpler anywhere else?

I had a Think Tank Retrospective 10 which is the same dimenstions width/depth of the the retrospective 20 but not as high, It was a fairly heavy bag when loaded up and didnt realy hold all that much comfortably so i wouldnt realy recommend one unless you travel light.

Anyhoo after seeing a FroKnowsFoto video on youtube for the Think Tank Slingomatic 20 i knew it was the bag for me, I bought the Slingomatic 30 so as to take my laptop as well and although its like a mini back-pack it has pockets all over it and can carry quite alot, I've very pleased with it and it comes in 3 sizes.

Definatley Recommend :)

ofc you can always look here to get reviews on other bags,

Good Luck

I've actually ordered the Cupcake 7500 from Amazon. The Think Tank Retrospective 20 looks like it would definitely suit my needs, but it's more than twice the price of the Crumpler. I'll let you know how I go fitting all that kit in - and post some photos - when it arrives (hopefully today or tomorrow).

If it's really not suitable I'll return it and pony up for the Think Tank.

Be careful with the Crumpler. I've got a Muffin Top 7500 which is pretty similar and I need to check that the buckle is done up correctly when stowing kit, as the Velcro alone is not strong enough to save equipment falling out! Big design flaw IMO.

some photos would be great :)

I have a 7500 crumpler and can get my 450d with 15-55 kit lens + 100-300 & 35-105 zooms, charger hood 2-3 filters cables spare battery and still room left over for a couple of small lenses or a flash.

It's a nice bag too only had it a couple of weeks, even full it is still reasonably light on the shoulder.

The Crumpler arrived today, and it's way way smaller than I'd imagined from looking at the photos. Just the 70-200mm f/4L with the lens hood reversed takes up a third of the bag. I'll see if I can squeeze my essential kit in there and take some photos in a bit, but sadly I think it's destined to be sent back.

i did a lot of research about my bag. The Think Tank Retrospective 20 seemed to be the only option for storing an attached 70-200. Its not cheap but its extremely well made and doesn't look like its full of camera kit.

Long story short: it's going back tomorrow.

Photos as promised (apologies for the poor quality - I left my other DSLR body upstairs and only had my iPhone 3GS to hand):

As you can see, I had to remove the grip from my 60D to have any chance of fitting it in. The body is actually upside down, meaning that the bit you grip with your right hand is pushed down into the bag. My poor 50mm f/1.8 lens is precariously perched, but might be safer if I could be bothered to shuffle some of the dividers around.

Basically, with my kit this is the only configuration that will fit everything in. If I happen to have my 80mm f/1.8 or 17-50mm f/2.8 on my camera when I want to put it away I'd have to take it off and put the 30mm f/1.4 back on in order to get the flap closed.

There is a front pocket for memory cards, etc., but I have no idea where to stuff the Black Rapid.

Here's the empty bag with the relatively modest amount of kit I had in it:

I think you were being optimistic to get that lot in with your grip too, you need the next one up.:)

If only there was a next one up, but the 7500 is the biggest model they sell. I actually had no idea how big it was when I ordered it (I would have, had Crumpler not shuttered their Bristol store). To be fair, the image of the 7500 on the Crumpler site gave me hope that it would fit:

Anyway, I should have taken the advice here (and dug a little deeper in my pockets) and ordered the Think Tank Retrospective 20.

Wow it is small, looks I will be looking for something else aswell. Thanks for uploading the images.
