There's a jeweller in town who's closing down today and they had a watch I was half thinking of buying since it was reduced by £200. Popped in for a look this morning to offer a bit less but they wouldn't budge so I left to think about it. Went back after a coffee and a coin toss but the chap one ahead of me in the queue bought it! Never mind, I've got enough watches already but I did like this one!

Seize the day indeed ...! Ah well, at least you're older and wiser now.

Marginally older, yes. Wiser? Cogito non!!!

lol- always the way. this is my mantra so had to look:)

Oops update!

Having misread the sign in the window - well, after only reading the "Last Day 26th" bit - I was mildly surprised to see the shop still open yesterday and even more surprised that they still had the watch I was offered in place of the one I really wanted so I bought it. Much easier to use than the one I originally went in to buy but on a leather strap rather than a stainless steel bracelet. Never mind, since it was knocked down from £369 to £221.40, I can afford a new strap!

It's nothing really special but has 3 attributes I like in a watch - it's big enough for me to see the time without specs on (and brightly enough luminous to see in the dark!), it's solar powered so no need to change batteries and it's radio controlled so (in theory!) is always dead accurate.

So do I... Tried e-mailing the LGs in Swansea and got as much satisfaction from there as I have by phone - Pharquall!

Carpe Diem, one of my favourite Latin sayings, almost as good as "Beer: The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems. El Homer Simpson.

Schree :)

Have to admit that I always thought it was a bit of a trite and overused maxim until Dad died with a load of unfulfilled plans for holidays, excursions etc and I now have it tattooed on my upper left arm. I'm extremely fortunate to be able to afford to do pretty much what I want to (within reason!) so I usually do. As Chris has said above, I don't NEED (yet) another watch but as well all know (at least those of us who suffer/enjoy GAS do!) NEED and WANT are completely different things - NEEDS tend to be satisfied fairly quickly while WANTS can usually wait!

An equally good (and far less well known) part of the same quotation is Horace's next line, "quam minimum credula postero" which translates (loosely) as "while trusting tomorrow/the future as little as possible" but I only went for the first 2 words on my arm!
