hi guys !

anyone has CZ m42 for normal prices ? ebay seems to have gone mad !!! and I don't have a car to travel to garage sales etc.
lesson learned - should've bought them when they were going for chips.

I have noticed that too ...

I took my 'less than a tenner' CZ 35mm apart, because it had a sticky aperture. ooops --- lots of bits . But I thought at that price , I could just buy another ....

 £130 ish on ebay now

I'f I'd have known that, I'd have made notes on how it came apart :bonk:

yup ! flektagon 35mm is a great example of people who seem to be high on drugs, not that it's a bad lens, but it's ridiculous. that's nikon 35mm af-s money ! and that lens is 1.8 and autofocus and not at all a bad lens.

The Carl Zeiss 50mm Tessars don't seem to be too bad, £10 a time for a lot of them.

I have 2 Praktica PL Nova 1B

One has the Tessar 50mm f2.8 and the other has a Pentacon 50mm f1.8mm.

I'd perhaps search ebay for Praktica's, (rather than just lenses) they sometimes still go cheap but have very nice lenses attached! Depending on who's listed it, eg private getting rid of 'junk', rather than a dealer, the lens might not be in the description/search as a CJZ, just a '50mm' or 'complete with lens' etc.

SHHHH ! :nono:

EDIT >- Sorry ... should have added the tongue in cheek smiley:p

My friend found his dad's old Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 1-2 f=8.5cm lens in his attic last year.

Everyone on here was very helpful when I asked for information on it for him and I fully intended to buy an adaptor for my Olympus so I could try it out. With one thing and another we forgot all about it, so it's still sitting there gathering dust...

Perhaps I should advise him that now is a good time to sell?

Janet

I picked up a CZ Jena Sonnar 135mm about a month ago on the bay for around £45, though I'd seen one go the other day for £25, so there are still bargains to be had about. I also bagged 28mm and 50mm OM lenses and an adapter to use with my 5D (shhhh, sorry) for around £20 each.

The ability to use these on DSLR's is making the market place extremely active, so overall it's more difficult to find bargains.

Well I have a CZJ 28mm f2.8 (in Praktica mount) and don't know what the fuss is about.....if it has special qualities, I can't see it.

I bought my CZJ 135 f/3.5 about a year ago for £45 [which was prob just below the going rate at the time], so on that basis things haven't changed that much. Other lenses could be very different of course.

Looks like my old m42 lens could be for sale at £100 a time I live in HOPE

:( . not wanting to share info ! :shake:

sorry - added one of these now ... :p

tiz catch 22 though ! the more people that know about these cheap lenses, the less cheap they become.

that's true but at least they would be TP people.

ok let's put the question this way - Is it really worth it ?
I think that a minolta 35-70mm f4 for about 40 quid will produce the same IQ (ok maybe not always at f4) plus you'll have the benefits of zoom and AF .

I blame the 4/3rds owners for the sky high prices

Oi! I resemble that remark! ;)
50mm makes a nice 100mm equivalent on a 4/3 crop sensor :)
Now let's see if I can bag a cheap Zuiko OM 200mm prime..............Attached to a faulty OM10, perhaps? ;)

I like 3D jigsaws if its all there and your sick on the sight of it :)

I bought a Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 for £20 with a sticky iris blade, when I dissassembled it it became aparent it was a MISSING iris blade.

I do keep thinking these M42 lenses are getting pricey, My local London Camera Exchange is now generally cheaper on the old Pentax stuff than ebay and you can inspect the lenses and haggle (occasionally).

There's definitely a bit of a craze for using old lenses on Micro Four Thirds cameras - some of the Konica Hexanon lenses are amazingly sharp as well.

I say finding them in the shops can be better off for you too. I bought a 50mm OM Zuiko Macro from the little camera shop in Warwick the other week, he threw in a UV filter, a hard case and a genuine Cokin filter set for it!

All in it cost me £90, I could only just about buy one on ebay for that, and here he was giving me all these little gifts too! It works fantastically as a 100mm Macro lens on E3 and DMC-L1.

had to blame somebody as I've never had a 4/3rds !

unfortunately 50mm doesn't feel like 100mm on 4/3rds. it feels like 50mm with very small field of view.

but I don't blame anyone. After looking through MF 6x6 prism every other camera seems a bit silly.
