Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 1:2 f = 8,5cms Chrome Lens number 1986722

I picked up this lens at an antique centre recently and wondered if anyone could help with technical issues such as the mount and what cameras it will attach to and if it is as rare and unusual as I hope it is.

What camera do you have? This is most probably an m42 screw fit lens so it should fit any camera via an adaptor

I would say it is a Contax rangefinder mount possibly?

Looks like it has a Contax rangefinder bayonet mount. It's no use on a DSLR I'm afraid, but might work on mirrorless with an adapter.

the lens did not come with any particular camera,, it does fit the screw mounting on a zenit camera?

No, it's for a Rangefinder film camera with a bayonet mount.
