I am off to Cardiff for a couple nights.

Are there any 'Must Shoots'? Quite fancy doing some night time shots so will take tripod etc with me.

Will have the car so anywhere in the surrounding area will be open for shooting as well :)

Depends what floats your boat really ...

Landscapes, people etc etc

Head down to Cardiff bay for some classic night shots of the millenium centre, barrage and the bay. The civic centre (city hall, library, museum) perhaps.

If they are within tour reach try the heritage coast and the beacons both less than 1 hours drive from Cardiff.

Sounds good to me Chewy, thanks for the advice :)

I'd definitely go along with Chewy's suggestion of Cardiff Bay.
Cardiff Castle and Penarth Marina are worth a look too.

Again, Chewy's beaten me to it with the heritage coast and Beacons but if you fancy some wildlife shots Cosmeston Lakes are probably a good bet.

Castell Coch & Caerphilly Castle..... The latter being more accessible at night.. (you can't get inside, but there's plenty to walk around)

"Chippy Lane", 3am, Saturday night/Sunday Morning.

Take your tripod, you'll need it to defend yourself with.

Right well the battery is charged and the tripod is packed.

I should maybe tell the other half that this has turned into a photography based trip :D

Queen Alexandra Dock (down my the new barrage) is also pretty good. There's lots around these as you have various marina's, the barrage, and lots of cool architecture...

Cardiff used to be my home town, I was back there for ** a few weeks ago, and I must say that I was still looking over my shoulder when I walked down 'chippy lane' :-)

I was there a couple years back for a friends 21st party and 'Chippy Lane' was more like a fight club

All locations saved in the phone so shall see what I can do!

Appreciate the tips

Well I went out tonight and nothing was lit up :bang:

I remember the days of Cardiff... But not the nights, ahem! Lol!

The Millenium stadium from the other side of the river Severn is quite a good one. If I remember correctly, you need to drive over the bridge, turn first or second right; I think one of them is a no-entry so it loops around as a one-way road, but you end up coming down the river again but in perfect view of the side of the stadium! ;)

Enjoy the trip!

Also, Cardiff museum.

Drive around the back of the musuem, with and the uni buildings aren't too bad. The main gates of Cardiff uni, opposite Cathays railway station/Cardiff students union isn't bad. Can't remember how well lit up they are.

If all else fails, just go for a jolly in Cardiff union and enjoy the view!!! ;) ;)

Oh how I miss them days. :(

I tried but was not lit up :bang:

Managed to get a couple photos during the trip.

Was a strange experience seeing the city in daylight :cuckoo:
