Hi,
I wish to display some A4 photos for sale in a local Art / Gallery shop in a frame cradle. Where customers can flip through the collection of prints.
The prints are not going in frames, instead I wish to put them on white card sleeves that look like inner mount of a picture frame.

I have noticed in the Art /Gallery Shop some photographers have put their A4 prints in these white A4 card sleeve mounts. Which are in a plastic wrap sheet just like any type of packaging you would get from a purchase in a shop.

The problem is I am not sure what these white card sleeve mounts are called, and the accompanying plastic wrap.

I am hoping some of you know what I am trying to buy so I can sell some of my prints that I do not want to mount in a wooded glass frame.
Pack of 10 or 15 should be enough for my needs.

Many thanks

Get @mike weeks to confirm but I'm pretty sure that they are just called card mounts. And any supplier will
have the relevant bags.

If you are selling so that the buy will then display them in an available(?) frame.

Then things to consider:-
  1. If what you are envisaging is bevel cut mount?
They are available from various sources including custom sizes
NB there have been various threads discussing such photo mounts.

  2. So, you have two things to consider:-
What is the size of the print?
And as such what size will the border be e.g. 2 inches all round?
Then what size will that make the mount = what size frame will the buyer need to put it in. There are only so many different 'off the shelf' frame sizes.

  3. The bags are typically called 'cellophane bags' though they ave been replaced by Polyproylene as "greener" recyclable alternative.

  4. Having said all the above.....as @DemiLion says?
Are you perhaps, seeking the sort of mounts used in the events industry, which are made of heavy weight paper/thin card.
I think I have seen them in white somewhere but cannot recall where......it was some years back and of no interest to me.

  5. oh, when you say "frame cradle" do mean a 'Print Browser' also called a 'Print Rack'?
Of which there are various designs
Will the Gallery shop be supplying this for you to use?

FWIW
All the prints i have done in the past were mounted as above in #1 but I use what is called a T-Hinge method to attach the prints (it stops buckling due to environmental changes).
Plus, I add a plain backboard to the reverse to provide protection and stiffness of the 'finished item'. I still have my supply of cellophane bags......but in storage as all my recent prints have been Photo Canvases not mounted and framed prints. NB I always display my remaining mounted prints but they are slow shifters (they are older examples of my work so may not have that wider appeal nowadays

HTH and any questions please let me know

I am sure others will chime but it may help if, based on what say above, if you can clarify how you are intending to present your photographs?

Hi,
I am indeed selling prints, and just like you have stated I am selling slow movers at a cheaper price.

So all I need is something to put the A4 print in to give it some stiffness to sit in a 'Print Rack' for customers to flip through. All in a Polypropylene ( or what ever the new material is these days ! ) bag that will fit the card mount / frame !

So I really not after any thing fancy just something to put the A4 photo prints in to sell, and the customer can put the print in what ever frame they wish !

My top prints I sell in frames with inner mounts, D rings, pin brackets etc. So all the slow non movers I want to sell of cheap !

Various listed here....

Include 'slip mounts' in their ranges.

Hopefully you will find what you want at price point to match your objectives.

That great, at least I have a pretty good idea now what to get.

Though I did find out yestday the Art / gallery which is a charity run has been given notice to leave its location by the new landlard. As the shop / gallery does not meet the shopping centre business profile ! !
So I will be looking for a some new venues to display, and sell my fine art wildlife prints.

Many thanks
