i have a nikon d50 when i shoot say 20 or 30 shots then download the card to my computer using a card reader when i put it back in it says i only have 14 shots left on the card its a 2 gig normally good for 270 in raw the card is ok again after i format it but dont understand why it does this:bonk::bonk::bonk:

i take it from no replies no ones got a clue or do you just not like me:sulk::sulk:

When you download the shots, do you dlete the too?

don't forget, deleting the pictures doesn't really get rud of them, whilst formatting the card clears everything off it properly..

no i always check ive got them (my pics) on the computer before i format the card its not a massive problem as i have oyher spare cards just a bit unusual :cuckoo:

not sure your right there about formatting i read some where the only guaranteed way to clean your card is to fill it up with pics that dont mean anything ie a brick wall or something dont worry its to teccy for me anyway

Formatting doesn't really get rid of them either, if you want to be technical about it. There are plenty of ways to recover items for a formatted device, unless you use government level software to completely wipe the device.
