I'm looking for a nice cordless car vac that has good suction on it. Preferably one that doesn't cost as much as an entry level dslr :)

Anyone got one they'd recommend?

I've had a couple over the years (& used others) but unless you're going to spend to get a decent one, I wouldn't bother tbh.
Sorry I'm not really helping am I.

Not at all. I now you get what you pay for. I was just hoping someone would say, such and such is ace for 70 quid.

Fully agree. I've got a Dyson and for short bursts it is fine, but doing a full vehicle the battery just won't last. I have an orange VAX pro vacuum cleaner which can take any knock and scratch, perfect for the "dirty" work and outside jobs. Not cordless though.

Is it the animal?

No idea, I don't think so. Isn't he animal designation in relation to a special brush/rotor that is attached opposed to the engine and batter.

Don't get me wrong, it does the job, and in bursts it has good battery life. Continued use is just not good, no substitute for a normal vacuum cleaner.

Yep, handheld Dyson very good for crumbs, better than most handhelds, but a full sized Dyson beast necessary for the state of the car floor! Far better suction.

Great for diy as well, brilliant at sucking out drill holes and dust.

I have a dyson and it's the household one ie connects to mains I get the extension lead and use it on the car. Job done

A cleaner that has a blow as well as a suck function is very handy. The blow function gets dirt and debris out of all sorts of places that the crevice tool cannot get into or requires you to be a contortionist to reach. Works best on a windy day with all the doors open. The dust etc. just gets blown out of the car.

I have a Dyson DC04, and I made up a nozzle using a cheap vac accessory from Lidl. I had to fabricate something using an old vac tube, heavy card and gaffer tape (this is usually known as a "bodge":D). The end nozzle is about 5mm x 10mm so generates a lot of suction. I use it to clean hard to get to areas of the car, tumble dryer and the inside of the computer, where its small size and flexibility means that you don't disturb any of the fragile components.

Not cordless as it plugs into the car's 12V power supply (cigarette lighter socket), but I have this Black and Decker,

works very well apart from it could do with an attachment for some of the smaller gaps like down the side of the front seats.
If this one works as well as mine it has that longer and narrower attachment that mine doesn't.

Just found this universal accessory kit on ebay,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vacuum-Cl...5afaeb9&pid=100033&rk=2&rkt=4&sd=321825567010
should fit at 32mm (seems a common size) so I've ordered one.
