The time has come I want to get rid of my VW passat, I just fancy a change. I'm not interested in buying a brand new car. To be honest the depreciation as soon as you drive it out the show room isn't something that takes my fancy and I prefer the better build quality of older cars.

What sites are good ones for buying used cars? I always go on the usual Autotrader, Pistonheads, Adtrader, Gumtree and Ebay. I'm after some other sites because there might be a hidden gem somewhere Also something I'm not rushing into so the more searching I can do the better.

probably stick with autotrader and maybe also ebay. I'd rather skip gumtree as it runs a lot higher risk of being scam. Make sure to do all finance checks and take the car into trusted garage for full inspection. There are a lot of financed / broken / flooded / worn out / death traps around for sale.

True. I was just using Gumtree as an example. I haven't actually looked for any cars on there yet. When it comes to looking on Ebay I make sure I can see the car first before placing a bid. I'm mechanically minded myself and know what to look for, but I always take my friend who works with me on my project cars. We are like Mike Brewer and Ed China from Wheeler Dealers when put together lol

So you buy crap cars and your mate fixes them, sounds just like mike and ed

There's nothing wrong with Gumtree , 99% of the ads will be genuine ,it's just that it's free so the scammers like it

They stand out a mile, range rovers for 8k , vw campers for 5k

I actually buy the crap cars and do the work myself lol. He normally comes round to help out and speeds up the process. Two pairs of hands are better than one I currently have a BMW E34 M5 that we completely stripped down to a bare shell and it's on a rotating spit in my garage. If it wasn't for his help I'd be nowhere near this stage yet.

I have a few cars to look at today that I found on Gumtree and there's one on Ebay that I can view on monday. Hopefully they turn out to be alright because it's for a "daily" car.
