My car tax is due next month, last year I paid by 12 monthly direct debit payments, now will it automatically renew, will I get a reminder in the form of a V11 or do I have to re apply again, has anyone taxed their vehicle monthly and renewed yet, any help is appreciated as the .gov site is pretty useless for help.

I was on their site for 30 mins and didn't find that, but cheers that seems to explain it, so long as the car has MOT just been done, and insurance, also just been renewed, it should just carry on with the normal monthly payment then.

They'll keep on taking the tax, irrespective of MOT or insurance these days...

Yes, as above, but don't forget you can easily check on line to see if your car is taxed etc

So when it's due, quick check on line to see if still taxed, if you haven't received any info via post or e-mail...

How do you make it go from monthly DD to one annual payment on the dvla site? Or is that a daft idea?

reading this https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-direct-debit/setting-up

Looks like you cancel your DD, so you can set up another way to pay - I presume you need to speak with them as it doesn't appear to be on-line, obviously you can cancel your DD with the bank, but you then run a risk of running a car without tax...

Just watch the refund when you sell the car if you pay in one go,, I bought a golf, paid £110 for a year but sold it after 2 months, they only refunded me £33, luckily I noticed but they couldn't deal with it on the phone I had to write to them , computer said no

Got the email this morning, it just carries on if I still own the car, or I contact them if not............pretty simple really.
