our car radio needs an upgrade and would like suggestions as to what to buy... both me and my wife have Android phones that we would like to hook up to it via USB and bluetooth
not wanting a CD player as I think listening to music from the phone would suffice would also like a detachable front

must also add I have Co pilot sat nav software on my phone which I use a lot and really like it so it would be nice to be able to use it and make hands free calls with all the sound coming through the car speakers

and most important have a nice screen and is easy to operate
having spent the last 2 or 3 days scouring round the internet I have been having trouble finding websites that actually do reviews of different units

Amazon has user feedback etc but very little actual reviews
must add I only have a single din hole so the bigger options are not wanted

the one's I have shortlisted so far are the following
Kenwood BT61U
Pioneer DEH7300BT
Sony Mex BT 3600U

I would like any feedback on the merits and ease of use of these above and any other suggestions to other units in this class

sorry for such a long post but all help & tips would great thanks
Chris

Chris - try asking on talk audio - they are a friendly lot with a lot of knowledge..

I've always preferred Kenwood and had a similar need. I don't use co pilot, but I do use the navigation app that came with my htc, so I use that to play music as well as get the navigation. That's done with the aux input/headphone output while charging the phone with the USB from the stereo... Works for me...!

And, more importantly, the sound from the Kenwood has got plenty of what I want without the need for a separate sub, although the unit would let me if I needed it to...

ive always preferred pioneer units, never had any bother with the 5-6 ive had in various cars. cant comment on new kit though, my current pioneer has been running for about 6 years :D

Catdaddy
I currently have Kenwoods as the favorite it looks a quality product
my current shortlist is
Kenwood BT61U smaller screen
Pioneer MVH 7300 no bluetooth
Pioneer MVH 8300 has everything but is overbudget
Sony MexBT 3600 great player but looks cheap
Sony DSX S 300BTX looks cheap and nasty

I keep looking at them and am having a tough time choosing which way to turn
these models do you have any of them
I would love to any comments good and any niggles etc

ease of use is my beggest concern for my wife who has problems recording sky plus LOL

thanks for the input

Just to throw something else into the mix....I have an Alpine head unit like this (although mine is an earlier model it looks identical);

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-idax305s-bluetooth.html

not exactly the cheapest, but they are the dogs danglies, and very easy to use too. Will connect straight to phone/usb/ipod. You can also navigate your ipod through it too. Only downside is it uses a separate bluetooth "dongle"

I recently got a Mutant MT2300BT for my car.
This is a very cheap set, about £90 from eBay including fascia plate, wiring kit etc.

Don't get me wrong - I know you get what you pay for etc, but this unit is the dogs. Beautiful sound quality, every feature under the sun (bluetooth/handsfree/media streaming etc, wireless remote, USB socket, SD card socket).

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mutant-MT2300BT-Stereo-Bluetooth-Streaming/dp/B0030F3HDE

Only downside is that sometimes while on a handsfree call the unit will just freeze up and needs resetting (reset button is just behind the facsia where the CD goes in) so not a major problem. I hardly use the phone for calling while driving so doesn't affect me too much.
Never had an issue while playing music through the bluetooth.

Probably not something you would be interested in as you obviously have a bigger budget. But just thought I would mention it!
