I used to insure with Quinn insurance, based in Ireland, my last insurance with them expired in April last year (2010), the premium for the year was £230.00.
I then get a letter from Quinn stating that they cannot quote on a renewal due to having to withdraw from the UK market.
Ringing around, the best quote I can get is £440.00 so, have to go with that.
My present insurers sent me a renewal letter today, quoting me £551.00 even though I've had no claims and have an extra year (6 in total) no claims discount.
I had heard in the meantime that Quinn, my original insurer, have been allowed to trade in the UK again so, gave them a call for a quote, nice girl on the phone quoted me £1016.00.
What the **** is going on with insurance companies?
Rant over
