CT - glad two are inside, and the third one is dead - sounds like no loss there. As for the dilemma you face........ what do the police suggest? If she doesn't give evidence, what is his liklihood of "going down"

She's only spoken to the police on the phone so far - they'r visiting them at home shortly to have a chat about it. No doubt they'll be trying to talk her into giving evidence - they've got a job to do and they'll be anxious to nail the guy - Hell I've done it myself so I can see both points of view.

I've no idea Lynton what the strength of evidence is against this guy for this or other offences, but from what I can gather they've pulled jobs all over the place.

From what I can gather the shooting of the one guy was just down to the circles they move in. Shame it wasn't all four.;)

Cedric, I feel for your daughter In law, she appears somewhat stuck between a rock and a hard place.

First thoughts I had were could she give evidence and move home, but why should she be forced to because of this scroat! then you said they'd only recently moved before hand so another good reason not to look at that avenue. That said, it could be a fresh start for all concerned.

The death of one is no loss at all, as you say, just a shame the other 3 weren't dealt the same cards!!!

Firstly, I'm glad you're daughter in law is as ok as she can be in horrible circumstances.

Secondly, what a horrible situation the police have put her in. Surely they have enough evidence without having to drag her into it and putting her even more at risk?

I didnt see this thread first time round, and was really shocked when i just read it.

I have to say my heart goes out to you and your family.

If your daughter did give evidence can she have her identity protected?

We all know what the right thing to do is but until were put in that position none of us can say what we would do. I truly hope everything works out for you all.

They'd not long moved in when this happened and it's pretty much their dream home - detached and in a nice residential area.

Sorry to hear about all this. Has she considered getting a dog, preferably a large defensive one?

After a couple of miles they lost it on a bend on a canal bridge and piled straght into a trolley bus pole. They were both killed outright. The post never moved!

As I parked up and was walking towards the caranage, an old dear said " Oh my God - are they dead?"

I said "I sincerely hope so"

Saves a lot of taxpayers money when they finish it that way. No paid for lawyers, no need to feed and water them in prison for ages, no expensive court cases etc. etc. and no chance they will re-offend once their sentence ends.

If I was your daughter, I'd want to put this a long way behind me. No point putting herself through the anguish of awaiting the court case and seeing his smirking, self indulgent, mug.
I'd tell the police I don't remember any faces wether I did or not. If they haven't got enough evidence without the ID there's very little to convict him with anyway.

Really sorry about this.

Now come the excuses ADHD, not Brest feed its the victims fault etc etc etc. The list go's on and on.

Really sorry you and your family have been put in this dilemma Cedric. it would have been far better if these gangsters had just wiped each other out. it's a shame the other 3 didn't go the same way as the first. But at least one of them is no longer a problem.

I won't go into how the prisons should be run once the culprits get sent down. But I will say that they should be more like keeping battery hens. No need for expensive food, gyms, or large cells.

It's not that simple Tori. The police haven't put her in this situation - she did that herself when she reported it. In a case of robbery - without a complainant (victim) giving evidence that it happened there can't be any robbery charge anyway regardless of what other evidence they may have. This guy isn't going to go to court and put his hands up and the defence will want to challenge her evidence.

She'll obviously be required to ID him in the dock. She may be allowed to give evidence behind a screen at the discretion of the judge, but that's pretty academic when he knows where she lives.

She's every right to be worried about the implications this might have for her. She has to make up her own mind and I wont be trying to influence her one way or the other.

A dog wouldn't have helped as it would have been in the house anyway and I've no doubt these guys would just have shot it.

If this guy is so dangerous wont the judge refuse bail? (I’m no expert)

Stuart

Well that's not really the problem stu - the problem is if he gets off at court or even if he gets sent down, sooner or later he's getting out and and he's a really dangerous mofo.

I know it's already been mentioned but moving house is probably the only solution to get real piece of mind, whilst remaining a decent, civilised and not like them.

.

As an x screw I wholeheartedly agree with you but with all the do gooders today its not going to happen. Inmates have more rights than the staff.

It's a really difficult decision and one only your daughter in law can make, if scum like this are allowed to get away with crimes this violent because the victims feel too intimidated to give evidence there's something seriously wrong with the system.

My opinion is she needs more information from the police as to how likely a conviction is without her evidence.

I'd think it very unlikely he'd come after her even if she does give evidence because it'd be obvious where the police will go looking.

The thing that really ****es me off is the billions of ££ they spend on ***** like the Olympics when what the public wants is 20 year sentences for serious crime, a political party that said we're putting tax up 1% and ALL of it will go towards new prisons so we can enforce longer sentences would get my vote.

what a horrifc story and position to put someone in, supose the ideal soultion is give evidence, hes sent down and put in a nice cell with Some well hung rampant homosexual who explains what will happen to him if ever he sets eyes on the poor woman again.

I know I would be investing in a little visit for him when he came out from some bad lads with a warning or more to come.

He still knows where she lives whether she gives evidence against him or not. He may come after her anyway as a witness. Can the old couple or anyone else identify him properly? If lots of people can say 'it's him' then it is much harder for him to work his way round and stop all of them.

Is there any chance of some kind of police protection if she does agree?

CT, firstly, its a shame it has dragged up the memories for her, however, good that the 'team' has been whittled down somewhat.

I hope that she finds the strength to go through with it and have him sent down, if only to send a message that the average man/ woman on the street is threaders with scum taking over.

Judging by your posts you are serving or ex job anyway, so surely there are some like minded friends who could impress upon him the stupidity of being a silly boy on his release?

CT - comiserations to all involved. I despair of the way some people are going these days.

Sorrry to hear about this, I hope your daughter in law recovers both physically and mentally. It's about time examples were made of those who commit these crimes. They are all a load of Gutless *******s.
