I had my car MOT'd two weeks or so ago and had new brakes and pads fitted (otherwise it would of failed the MOT straight away). How ever I have done under 300 miles and braking gently since I got the new brakes and the front right brake when I go over bumps the pads now come lose and make braking neigh on impossible (Pug 106 diesels only have front discs). My question is due to them being so new they should be under warranty surely. If I take it back to the person who fitted them (which I intend to do tomorrow first thing as he was shut when I called in on the way home just now) he should sort it out free of charge right.
 
It sounds like the caliper piston has seized. When you apply pressure on the pedal, the piston within the caliper stays in the same position instead of travelling towards the pads.

The garage who fitted them should have seen the condition of the piston when they changed the pads. Definately take it back to them.

No the pads actually slide forward out of place. So when the calliper tries to push the pad onto the disc it only pushes a corner onto it. Makes a terrible scratching sound when breaking. I have checked the front left and there should be a little clip on the inside pad keeping it in place but its not there on the front right so nothing is keeping it from moving. But it should be there responsibility to fix it right.
 
Yes, they should fix it, they would appear to have left out an important part . There's all sorts of potential for mayhem if the pads fall out, or if you have one side not working and have to emergency stop.

tbh I wouldn't drive it until it is fixed.
 
Sound to me as if they have left the springs holding the pads in place out. Used to work in a garage and I remember pugs being a b****r with springs on the pads. other than that there used to be a sliding lock piece which may be missing. And yes indeed they should fix this free of charge
 
on the 106 derv calipers (think it's a bendix) there's a metal clip that sits over the pad to stop them doing exactly this.....assume they haven't put it back in. had a pad fall out on a rally as the pin snapped. doh

just read the thread. lol

Yep clips missing, get back to them asap, it's dangerous but ok to drive a short distance gently. tell them what they've done wrong, they should replace it, if they don't kick off
