“Any colour so long as it is black”

Just coming back in from a walk, and noticing the cars in our car park, and little street. Must be about fifteen cars, and every car is silver or grey. Light and dark coloured cars, but all a shade of silver and grey, not noticed two cars the exact same shade. VW, Ford , Audi, and a few other makes. But they all have their own version of silver / grey. Funny thing is, NOT one black Ford.

My Ford is blue - a beautiful shade of blue

The Ford dealer did say more or less, "any colour so long as it was dark grey". As that is what they had in stock, and wanted it out of their showroom. Any other colour, we would have had to wait months for.

might as well get some Addison Lee decals for the back window....

everytime we get picked up at LHR T5 by our local firm I wince every time they tell me the driver is in a Black Galaxy....

on our road apart from the odd mushy dark blue or green all the cars are 256 shades of grey

Must admit I also don't like dark colour cars for the visability issues,
got a light blue one at the moment, last car was a lovely red one.
Same with motorbikes always bright colours with bright lights

Mainly that is because grey/silver cars dont show the dirt. We have had a black focus, black Peugeot (RCZ) and a white BMW (1), all were a PITA to keep clean, with the Ford just about the best, followed by the BM and stone last the beautiful but always dirty RCZ. Just replaced the wife's BM with a Fiesta and told my Mrs she could have any colour except black or white (cos it's me that cleans it), she bought a white one, which almost needs cleaning daily!!
My silver grey Focus gets cleaned just about annually before we go on holiday (inside and out, I dont scrimp :-) )

Careful - it's a well known fact that red cars, bikes etc are faster than any other colour

I don't bother cleaning ours, I can't see where the dirt is. :)

Was given directions a few years ago, this was to someone's house. It was on a big housing estate were the numbers were hard to see. Person told me, "there is a silver focus outside". I was still non the wiser, every other house, had a silver focus outside.

My Ford is Deep Impact Blue !
Who thinks up these names?

I can't visualise what sort of blue that might be. A quick search, looks like electric blue to me. Not to be confused with certain VHS films. :$

Nice colour though, we tested a Fiesta in that colour, wife didnt like it cos it wasnt white -- arghhh!!!!
And we dont even live in ESSEX.

I had a silver focus, I was once on the A1 in a line of 7 silver focus’

What happened to all the colours of the 90s, the bright reds, yellows greens etc? I had a Citroen that was Ferrari red.

My Freelander was Baltic Blue - a lovely deep sparkly blue

My Ford is black. :)
It's Shadow Black which is a mica paint as opposed to metallic or pearlescent. It has blue flecks in it. The only bit of the car that attracts dirt is the horizontal section of bumper below the tailgate as it is flat any dirty water will dry on it as it can't blow or run away.
I would have liked red but they only went on sale this year and they only made 300 anyway.

Our cars are all called "Grey" on the V5. Very different shades (not 50...)
Bikes are red, white (with a bit of blue) and blue (with a bit of white).

I have only ever had one black car, it looked good out of the showroom, but the brown dirt showed up daily. Not cleaned our grey Galaxy in over six months, it still looks good, apart from the wheels. :)

Next car has to have black or grey wheels, not sparkly shiny glinting type. Missus loves the shiny wheels, but I have to clean those wheels. Bloomin brake dust on damp wheels, such a mess. :(

Mine are satin Matt black. They tend to look a very dark brown as the brake dust builds up. But I have been using the wax and sealant that I use on the bodywork so like the body, cleans up quite easily.

Seems like a good idea, might give it a whirl myself. I just hate cleaning the car, any excuse not to get it done. :)

Rows and rows of silver and grey fords, make it hard for me to find the car, in a car park. When I park in a supermarket car park, I come out and our car is surrounded by other cars, similar make and colour.

Next car we get, will probably be bright red. When I had a red car years ago, I am sure my insurance added an extra loading, for the car being red. It seems at the time, red cars were more likely to be involved in an accident. Strange really, as red cars are easier to see.

After I got rid of my red FTO, our work car park was entirely monochrome - white, black and every shade of silver and grey in between! Now I have an Aurora Blue Mazda to jazz it up a bit.

According to Auto Express, the favourite car colour in the UK, was black. Really? But there does not seem to be that many black cars about,
They are all in the car wash.

From Auto Express. "UK's favourite car colours: 20% of all cars sold in 2017 were black".

Well if 20% of all sold were one colour that would be "diluted" by the other 80% of rainbow mixture so seeing the black cars would not be too obvious. Though there might be geographic hotspots where more than 20% were sold???

I suppose that would make sense. :)

I will never ever have a Red Car !!!

Remember a few years ago when I was looking for a car I forgot to ask the colour, it was red,
Just drove away from it

I think it depends on the shade of red, now if it was Ferrari red. I had a Citroen in Ferrari red, when it was polished up, it did look good. :)

No shade of red could even tempt me, I drove a red vehicle for years at work I never ever want to sit behind a red bonnet again :D

I have always preferred a red car ;)

Way back in the day, we had a Ford Escort 1300GT Estate in Canary Yellow. Yes, it was a family decision (in part at the time because yellow was deemed the most highly visible colour at night) but oh boy did it attract the greenflies!!!

PS was special order from Halewood and took 12 weeks to be delivered :)

I had a yellow Morris Marina, I thought it looked great, while everyone else laughed and called it a bucket of custard. I always wanted a yellow mustang, but missus hates yellow cars, and I can't afford a mustang, so I didn't bother. :)

Weeellll, that 1300GT may not have been as fast as a Mustang but it was the slightly hotter Escort with the beefier suspension etc in the Estate body, hence the even longer wait than usual :D And it was the first and only 1300GT Estate that the dealer had ordered at that time.

PS yes, as I recall the BMC yellow was not the same as the ford canary yellow ;)
