Then write to the Chief Constable making a formal complaint for the lack of communication over the return of your property.
 
Called Devizes, asked to speak to the Chief Constables Office, got put through to an inspector who took details.
30 Mins later my wife has a text from the officer who apologised, says he's chasing another officer whose dealing with the case.
Not sure what they use but they're texts are limited to about 120 characters so it cuts off half their message.

But progress perhaps?
 
I was going to suggest a call to the Forces Professional Standards department. That's the new name for Complaints and Discipline. That would of got thinks moving. It's pretty shoddy that the Chief Superintendent didn't respond to your letter.

Why not complain tp PCC he/she is paid a fortune to 'run' the police

The IPCC would suggest you contact Professional Standards in the first instance. The IPCC isn't just one person but a body of independent investigators.

They don't run the police. Each police force has a 'Commissioner' who sets the forces policing priorities in conjunction with the Chief Constable who is in charge of the local force.

He didn't say IPCC, he said PCC, which is the Police and Crime Commissioner...
 
So latest is, they've been holding onto it as the court case hasn't happened yet and the chap is claiming it's his.
Forensics have dumped everything off, it's full of addresses we've used and can identify, family friends, work addresses, which he'll struggle to identify.

So rumour is, provided we don't sell it, we might get it back.

I don't see why you can't have it back if the Hi-Tech Crime Unit have cloned the data then they don't really need your device anymore. I guess they are only holding in to it if the offenders defence want to challenge the evidence. He's on to a sticky wicket anyway, it's looking good for you :-)

Ah well that is different, if he's pleading not guilty as well then it's important evidence that may need to be produced in court ... irritating though!
 
Yep they normally change their plea on the advice of their Brief at the last minute when they find put that if a guilty verdict is returned then the sentence could be tougher.

If he's a prolific offender or linked to other offences then he just might get a custodial sentence. If it's a first offence then the result isn't going to impress you.
 
20 plus cars broken into and a bridal suite during the wedding and nicked all the gifts during the evening. Everything was in their houses, so the police are going all out with this pair.
 
So 20+ Theft from Motor Vehicle and Burglary. Fingers crossed then could get a custodial sentence if found guilty.
