I'm thinking of finding a nice spot where i can park side on, lower down the passenger window and use my car as a hide, a place where some fence posts are in range, putting out bird seed and see what comes.
Do i need to prefeed ? Any tips would be helpful thanks, i have some camo netting if required too. I'd love to get lucky and capture a buzzard but they wont touch bird seed

I do not know about capturing a Buzzard Graham but I have always found a car to be a very good hide - I have never used any camo but somehow a lot of birds are very tolerant if you are in a car, the second you get out and they are off.

Yep use my car, sometimes i drape a camo net over around the windows, when at home in my drive i use a piece of curtain net.........wife thinks i am embarssing as a bus stop is right outside my house, i get some very strange looks :naughty::lol:

use my car all the time and as Roy C done need camo. Birds, deer, hares, Raptors and all sort of wildlife are fine. Untill you get out or open a door. Then off they go.

I spend quite a lot of time trying to photograph hares. I had one lined up from the car but couldn't get the angle right. It was coming straight up the road towards me so decided to open the door and use it as cover. Everything was going well until, on turning round in the car I leant on the horn. Didn't even manage a shot of it's fast receding arse.

The car needs a menu option for 'disable horn' or possibly 'disable stupidity'. Actually that one would get a lot of use.

Laughed out loud at that
Better luck next time!

I've been reasonably successful using a car as a hide. As long as you stay inside and don't make sudden movements, wildlife is generally pretty tolerant.

For use in poor light conditions, I bought a window mounted tripod head off ebay which was pretty good value at £15.

As to pre-feeding, I know of a local photography who does this and seems to get good results. Although it's probably not really necessary you might get some extra species. Try it and see. :)

I park my car in the drive near the tree with the bird feeders and the birds now associate it with food. Although they fly into the hedge initially they so come back for the food:)

Cars are excellent hides.

Camouflage netting over the car sounds a good idea. We used to use it years ago when I had a shotgun, to hide in amongst the bushes (I don't shoot anymore prefer to see living things these days) Re: the buzzard shot, you could get some dead mice for your local pet store and place them on top of the posts you never know you might get lucky.

My FIL uses his old car as a hide on his farm. Apparently if you shoot one bird with a shotgun from it, you can just park the car in the field and the birds stay off his seed for a week or two!

And the car will make for a very good faraday cage should a thunderstorm suddenly crop up from nowhere. :naughty:

Love the one of the hare, how far was you from it?
Dunno to be honest,Sigma was at full whack and it is full frame. You can get within yards of them though and if you want them running sometimes you have to get out and shoo them along...........:)

And I nearly ran over this little fawn.

A large bean bag is very good for use in the car. Comes in useful for sitting on also if your hidden in a small bush staking something out.
