Yes
whats a good lens recommended for capturing sports or wildlife etc :thinking: for canon 400?

whats your price range, people say good things about the nifty 250 EF-S55-250IS but too short for real wildlife depends what you want really

Depending on your sport, one lens may do it for both jobs - say a 300mm or 400mm f/2.8 (you may not need the IS). However, you also need to consider budget.
Indoor sports will need a totally different solution.
Suggest that you follow the advice already given and let us have more detail of exactly what you are after photographing and what is likely to be within and outside of your budget.

thanks people.........

given me some thought sports is more secondary so if i was to choose one or the other id go with wildlife

the wildlife would be to capture things like birds in flight, deer/cats/dogs running/jumping etc as well as when on holiday to capture the native wildlife say lizards etc budget is upto say £350ish maybe a little more

personally I find a cage or net best for capturing wildlife.
:lol::lol::lol:

i have the nifty 250 (canons 55-250mm IS) i have used it for motorsport, and american football but i find i lack reach when im trying to shoot wildlife

I'd say canons 100-400mm f4.5/5.6L IS (which is what im scrimping my pennies for) would be what you need for outside sports and wild life but its price is nearly triple what your budget allows, but for low light/indor sports i'd say sigmas 70-200mm f2.8 @ £600 again a fair bit more than your budget but half the price of canons 70-200mm f2.8 IS version

maybe

Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM @ £360
or
Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM @ £480ish

I'd go for the Sigma 70-200 f.28, fantastic lens :) I managed to get mine for £300 2nd hand (but in tip top condition) about a year ago, took a lot of searching as they seem to be a bit like gold dust 2nd hand!!
