I was just looking at the sample images on DPreview concerning the D800/E and the test they did with raw converters. The amount of detail recovered when using Capture One compared to LR is pretty astonishing! I use LR4 at the moment and it is a fab peice of software especially for its catalogues and general library upkeep.

I was wondering if theres any way of integrating it with Capture One so you get the initial benefit of squeezing every pixel of detail out of your raw's and then have lightrooms brilliant library management.

Does anyone use both and whats your workflow if so? You can get a cheap version of Capture One Express so the idea is tempting.

There is now way you can use LR's Library to send Raw images to CO, Adobe does not want you to use someone else's raw software.

This is the reason I use a separate DAM program even though I have LR4 and CO6 Pro as I do not want to be tied into one raw converter.:)

well ive been using the capture one 60 day trial for a couple of days and its really nice once you start getting used to it, so much more responsive than LR!

isnt there an "open with" option somewhere in LR? I just thought about that. But i guess once the image is in LR then its been imported with ACR so you wont get the extra detail if you then reladed the NEF into CO.

Adobe has really perfected the layout and simplicity of use thing though which is what i miss, i can still generate web pages with previews on it easily enough in CO which is something I do a lot in LR with collections, but i dont think it lets you save collections for later use. I'll have to download the manual and have a good read of it.

Have you tried the DAM software that goes with Capture One?

Yes but it will only open a copy as a Tiff or PSD, you cannot send a raw file to a external editor/software with it.

I use Media Pro with Capture One.

I do all my key wording and metadata with it on new files and sync them, then when and if I import them into LR4's catalogue it picks them up and uses them.

Also I can send images to CO from it either individually or as a collection to be intergrated with CO's library.
