This video is a pretty good overview of C1 if you have never used it and are curious, or even if you have just started using it.
Brad Hill is a well known nature photographer, who has been using C1 for as long as I can remember. He is a little out of date in his brief comparison with LR as the just released version of LR has introduced layers. But it does give a good idea of how I suspect many (most) people work with C1 i.e. in a layer centric manner.
I'm not sure he fully explains how the "magic brush" works when he is making selections: the reason it works so well is because it uses colour AND luminance levels to select similar pixels, The luminosity masks use "only" luminance values to select and the colour masking (which he didn't demonstrate) "only" uses colour values to select.
