Capture NX2 on Mac

Has anyone actually managed to use it on OS X (10.8.5), it is insanely slow for me minutes to open a file, constant spinning beach ball (even though CPUs hardly used, lots of memory free etc.) ... am I missing something?

You just need an upgrade - or come over to "us"! :nuts:

I ran it on 10.8.4 and it ran, but slowly, I then upgraded to 10.8.5 and it will launch, but becomes unresponsive as soon as you try to do anything! I wouldn't have thought a point release would have hurt an application that much. I sent Nikon support a message, hopefully they can help, as the results from NX2 are great, it just takes a lot of patience to get there. Windows reminds me of work - so that's not an option!

I emailed Nikon and they got back saying use images stored locally and yes, it's alot faster in that scenario ... it doesn't seem to tolerate network delays very well!
 
One way to speed up NX2 is to store Temporary Data on a separate hard drive rather than the drive with NX2 on. :)
 
I'm using it now with Aperture and Catapult and it's working quite well even with the masters on a NAS. I think I've convinced myself that it's worthwhile keeping as part of my armoury, although not at full RRP! Does anyone know any shops selling it at a competitive price?
 
There's an unregistered copy over here at some £80 posted...

Hi Jan, thanks for that, if you could contact him for me and let me know a Euro price (I'n in Ireland) - that would be great.
 
Strange the problems some people are having with NX2. I used it on my mac with Mountain Lion and am now using it with Mavericks - no problems at all.

I you only wants the serial number, it's €80.44

If you want the original complete box with CD, quick guide and user manual shipped, it's €11.53 postage, so a total of €92...

The problem I had seemed to be my masters were on a NAS. I now use Catapult to open the masters on the NAS and then launch NX2 and have no problems.
