Im about to buy a d700 from RGB tech and they are offering NX2 at about £70 if you buy the d700. Is it any good though?

Its not just good its excellent and and thats a good price

Love the results from it, however would suggest you get a copy of "Capture NX2 by Ben Long - Real World Books" will help get to grips with it.

Cheers, ill have a play around with the trial version I think.

I have just started using it and it seems to get good results but finding the interface very tricky to get used to.

Anyone got any online tutorials?

Another useful feature is that you can save any image as a NEF file.
This does not mean that a JPEG becomes a raw file :D but any changes you make to the JPEG are not applied to the image data itself but are stored seperately so you can go back and edit the changes without further degredation of the JPEG.

Just buy the book I mentioned in post #4, really well written and simple to follow LINK

It would be interesting to see someone like WDC do a sidfe by side comparison of the proprietory Raw converters against the likes of Lightroom and Aperture. I've heard that the likes of NX2 are better than the generic converters, but unless you shell out for both how do you tell?

Cheers for links on this software.

I had a look at an older version of this and struggled to see what the advantage would be for my workflow over using the CS2 (at the time: now using CS4) which was bought for me...
