Capture NX

Just wondering [Or DD is] how long do you find that Capture NX takes when batch processing using a d-lighting, sharpening etc....we're currently getting 2minutes an Image.
Computer is fast, plenty of RAM, is the computer just slow?! :shrug:

capture nx is very memory hungry in my experience.. to the point that I gave up using it.

From my experience and what i can gather from others capture NX is just sloooow, i actually only used it a couple of times and couldn't be bothered with it in the end, so it's just been sitting on the PC now since february unused, if someone could throw some light on why it's so slow i also would be grateful.

Dave went out and got 3gb more of Ram, and he's still having issues. It took [before the RAM] 22hours to process 640+
Now its just taken 15 photographs in 20minutes.... so obviously its working a bit faster now....but it will still take a couple of hours to do the 80+

What kind of computer 'del? and which version of NX?

nx2 is considerably faster, or it was until I started using the d300 with 14bit files and the active d-lighting turned on in the camera, just due to the file-sizes I think. You won't get faster 2.5fps in the camera with either of those turned on.

it can be very slow, I think you'll find it'll be the d-lighting thing that's dragging down. For some reason that bit of the code had always been a bit rubbish.

There's a good thread HERE about making it faster, but I'd suggest reading it all the way through as people have varying experiences with it.

Quad core is a big help too. So is using a PC over a MAC apparently.
