canvas from scan

I did some shots for a friend a while back of his granddaughter and he now wants a canvas of one of the shots . The problem is I lost all the original shots in a pc melt down and only now have an 8x10 print to go from . He wants something around 24" wide now . Would a HQ scan work ? If so how high a quality are we talking ?

Canvas prints aren't the highest of quality in the first place so a decent scan of a 10x8 should produce an image easily big enough for a 24" width canvas.

We scan stuff on an Epson V750 pro at 300 dpi and get acceptable results after a bit of tweaking in pshop.....!

should be fine - canvas's are utterly crap for showing anything sharp so you can get away with pretty poor IQ images

That's what I thought , I'll just see how it goes . As long as he's happy that all that matters .
