I've recently taken up photography and a few of my friends have asked for prints of my photos.

There seem to be hundreds of companies doing canvas printing and I wondered if anyone could give any recommendations?

I did a comparison of prices but I don't know what the quality is like.

I cannot speak for the others but Trade Canvas Print offer fantastic quality and customer service. Take a look at the thread and you'll see many happy forum members, including myself. I would recommend you contact Ben and discuss your requirements with him.
 
I used photobox a few weeks ago and was really impressed with service and product

I also had an email yesterday I think it was from DSCL (DS Color Labs) offering half price canvas prints but not sure on the quality of those. Others maybe able to pass judgement however
