I was dragging my heals following the other half around Next like an obedient dog and grunting with appropriate timing to feign interest in this painful torture.

While in there she says to me that she would like to buy a 'Plastic' canvas picture of some flower for the bedroom wall, I took one look at it and thought what a piece of crap.

The material it was made form was nasty, and the picture was just not doing it for me and there was no way I was going to part with hard earned cash for that junk, so....

would you kind peeps, like to submit your images to this thread for making canvas art from, she is quite keen on flowers, but I'm open to other ideas.

The picture is to go above the bed so width is 5' or so, I quite like the idea of the image being split over three frames, but like I said it's all open to your ideas.

Feel free to ask anything or comment.

not actually tried this yet but looks good and is very reasonably priced too

Yep its that style of thing that I want to do but its the beautiful pin sharp images I don't have.

So if any members would like to submit images so the Panel of judges (Me and her) can select an image we both like I will then get it printed onto canvas to hang in our bedroom.

I will even send £20 to the person who's image we decide on.

I'm too lazy, honestly... but more importantly, rather than go looking at pictures and finding something that we may like and find the owner may not want to have us use it, I would prefer to keep it tied to this thread so it's clear that the person submitting the photo is happy for me to have it hanging on our wall.

Yep mono or split tone might go quite well with the neutral colours in the room, but then contrast with a burst of colour can look good too....aagghh

I'm much better with spanners and hammers than this arty stuff.

MonkeyDave's puppy picture "Fart.jpg" was so good my daughter now has it on her desktop....

Thanks Dave, for the full res picture.

Gutted, hoping some more pic's would have been added, None from Lady Pitstop??? come on I know there's stacks of talent in this forum, please add some more....

Thanks

flower wise, i'm not much good, sorry:(

Is this printed onto canvas?, I would be interested to see how it looks on canvas to see how well images print too canvas.

I have this on a 110cm x 47cm canvas. It looks great and you get to spot there are two people in the distance right by the waterline that I hadn't noticed :)

a 5' or 60" wide canvas is going to be VERY demanding on image quality.

Out of my d200 that's going to be 64 ppi at output resolution.
I'm not entirely sure of the demands of canvas printing Vs detail but I would imagine you would need at least 180 dpi (around 11000 pixels wide) or an image that contains little in the way of very fine detail (not landscapes!)

I'm willing to stand corrected on this but I think an amount of up-rezzing may be required!

anyone shooting 5x4 film?

Not of flowers as such, but reminds me of an oil painting

Good point, I never even considered that.

I'm guessing I shall be struggling if I try to get one large canvas.

Might be better off with either splitting an image across three canvas's or three seperate images of something similar.

Thanks for all your pictures so far, they are really good.

How long until you are going to decide. Is therea set date to get the photos in for.

I think I shall let it run till next weekend to allow people time to dig out their best shots.

What's best in your opinion I can change it if people feel differently?

The bedroom isn't going anywhere so it can wait if you would like longer. :)

Hi think that is fair, gives people enough time.

Thanks
