Yes
Applies to the UK, tried VPN set to the US but can't sign in and trying to find a work around .....all my saved images lost , a big WTF.:headbang:................looks like it's due to the labour government and "the UK’s new Online Safety Act (OSA)"

Well set the VPN to the Netherlands and manage to get in and have downloaded all my images, but setting the VPN active to the Netherlands you have to wait to get a "slot" to get into imgur as you get a message "site overloaded", which you wouldn't get if you put the VPN on pause

Strange imgur site is working ok now with VPN set to the Netherlands as maybe it's remembered my signin (in the netherlands) or whatever and came up straight away with a click.

Sounds like you need an onsite backup plan.

You shouldn't rely on cloud / website storage if they're that important.

May be time to invest in a NAS at home?

Well all my images/photos are backed up anyway, but the inconvenience would have been not being able to upload or post chosen images, from the imgur site, here.....but we'll see how it goes and welcome from the netherlands (well not really) :D

all my images lost as well WTF made them close down the site? still have them on SSD exrnl and on computer intrnal SSD/

I'm not familiar with imgur so I just looked. It seems as of this month the UK is blocked from accessing the site, and any linked items from there will no longer be available to people in the UK. Presumably being able to access sites overseas is too much like freedom for the government. I expect VPNs will be made illegal shortly if anyone in the government realises what they are.

As mentioned use a VPN and set for Netherlands and so far it's working for me...the government :headbang:

Easy fix, just use a private window in an Opera browser. It comes with a VPN as standard, I've had no problems getting around the so called 'Safety Act...' thusfar.
TOR works too but is quite slow.

strange..on my other computer and VPN set for uK and I went to the rollei sl66 thread and my shot had disappeared and replaced with a notice that you couldn't see it in this region. Yet I can still see it here on this computer with vpn set to uk?????? So am I the only person here to see my shot (only on my computer)?

Flickr may be another option to share to here?
I can't see photos posted on flickr, unless I disable all security, adblockers etc, just comes up greyed out and the mouse does nothing on it.

Doesn't worry me, never liked it :)

Imgur website stated that the site and any materials linked from it were now not available in the UK. So, any links you post to material on imgur won't be viewable to the poor unfortunates who live in the UK. Unless they use a VPN, which as we know no law abiding citizen ever would.

erm strange as I have kaspersky, VPm, firefox all set to block adverts, attacks etc and although I have only one photo on flickr (put there about 5 years ago)........I have no problem, well so far.

erm doesn't explain why I can see my shot in sl66 thread...maybe tomorow it will disappear?

If you are still using a VPN, you're good to go. Provided it's not in the UK. Are you still in the Netherlands computer wise?

Not at the moment as set to the netherlands...BBC, and other newspapers etc etc think I'm a foreigner not wanting UK news first e.g BBC seems to be about US news.
Anyway tried a new test pic from imgur and you can't see it here (unless you set you VPN to netherlands), so that's that and will have to try flickr

Flickr is making my head hurt..I've chosen an album and uploaded photos but it doesn't save them, same if I just choose camera roll...so if I close flickr and sign in again there is no album or any photos........... how millions don't have a problem and I do is a mystery.
Anyway imbb site looks interesting and posted a trial shot here and deleted it.

WIth Flickr you hit the upload symbol (Cloud with an up arrow) then you can name, decribe, tag, add to an existing album( or create one) and/or add to a group. After you have done this at the top right hand corner you have to finish by hitting the blue Upload 'x' Photo/s button.
You can upload single shots or multiple by using the add+ it the upper left hand side. Once you get the hang of it its pretty easy but if you don't hit that final blue Upload Photo your images wont actually upload and any work you have done will need ot be refilled in if you have navigateed away from the initial upload page.

Flickr does have a 1000 image limit for free accounts. Also if you are using it to store images the free account limits downloads to something like 1600px(on the long side) images so even if you upload a full size image you can only download a 1600px downscaled version. I don't think either limit exists for a paid for pro account.

Hmmm. ISTR on flickr I just upload a photo, and it goes into my "photostream". Then I add that photo to an appropriate album (which is just a way of making a selection from the photostream), and add tags that might not have come across (it's been pretty good at tags added via C1Pro), plus any descriptive material.

Are you by any chance over the "free account" photo limit?
I'm under 999..... and one time flickr wouldn't load if using a VPN but imgbb doesn't care.

Thanks I'll play with it but imgbb (free up to a point) looks promising and easier to use and as mentioned posted a pic here for a test and deleted it......so far is working without any problems as uploaded about 277 photos in one go and might stay with them.

thanks folks...for flickr it seems a bit wierd (for me) in that you open all your shots and seeing them, but unless you hit rectangular button to upload then they wont be saved...erm why don't they have just a save button instead of a upload button as its confusing when you see all your pics that you have already uploaded before.

Just goes to show how bloody stupid our government is. I too have gone VPN to the Netherlands to get my Igmur photos back. Don't they realise that now thousands of photographers that vote for labour won't any more?
So what is the point? all that was needed was to get the company to add clauses preventing unwanted nasty type photos ame as other companies have.

All confusing as different answers on the net, as one was:- all imgur had to do was ask if you were over 18 (or whatever) to avoid a possible fine, but imgur said it was a commercial decision huh! millions? are using it in the UK.
What's annoying for me (and everyone else) most of my pics posted here can't be seen. Photobucket in the past did the same thing and would never use them again esp as you have to pay.

Dare I point out it was Conservative legislation from 2023, that only came into effect this year to allow websites time to prepare and nothing to do with Labour?

.....but labour could have repealed it as a silly idea that's great in theory but not in practice unless the EU, US and maybe the world agree on some sort of legislation to stop children seeing indecent photos on the net.....but then there are some browsers that can't be tracked ATM so they would have to find away to stop that.
