Can't send attachments on outlook

I found out yesterday that since hotmail changed over to outlook express, i can't send attachments, their obviously is a fix, but to be honest i can't work it out, if anyone can explain in very simple terms how to fix this issue, i would be really grateful. Just another pain from Microsoft i guess, the term comes to mind if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it :bang:

Sorry yes, i guess thats what it's called now, or whatever hotmail changed too, lol.

No it doesn't do anything, they won't upload.

If you click 'attach files', does it comes up with a grey box, with a green line showing it's uploading?...
I know you can't click on the box to open it...but, to double check I send an email to myself to see if the attachment works...and it seems to anyway...

No absolutely nothing happens when i click upload attachment.

How odd, can't understand why it doesn't let you... I must admit Outlook isn't as good as Hotmail was..
 
What Internet browser are you using, and what version is it?
 
I had this using Chrome. I swallowed my pride and tried using IE and it worked. So glad I'm finished uni and can use gmail for everything now :)
 
I am assuming you have checked that a pop up blocker is not stopping the upload dialogue from appearing?
 
No it's not a popup blocker stopping the uploads
 
Make sure you are set as an administrator for outlook.
 
when you click "attach files" its a standard windows file browsing box, not a web page popup.

the "attach files" button is a "Silverlight" action (at least in IE10 it seems to be), do you have Silverlight installed and enabled?
 
Yes silver-light is installed, when i click on attachments absolutely nothing happens, i may as well be clicking on a blank screen.

Thanks Tom, i will have a read, it's bloody annoying that it appears these things are not tested out properly before being changed, i would love to just scrap this email address, but i've had it for years now, and have lots of contacts, so i'm reluctant to do it

1. Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.

2. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.

3. Click the Tools button , and then click Internet options.

4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.

Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would also like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, Tracking Protection, and ActiveX Filtering data.

5. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.

6. When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, and then click OK.

7. Close Internet Explorer.

Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.

no offence but it appears to be an issue with your machine and not outlook.com :)

open the new email page first then click the cog icon/tools menu, manage addons. scroll down, is Silverlight enabled?
 
This is indeed a Chrome/Silverlight issue. We've hd several users reporting this problem and all were using Chrome. For this reason, we have asked them to use IE, Firefox or Safari.

Except the OP is using IE and not Chrome.

Also I have no issues with Chrome/Silverlight/Outlook.com

So they are! When I saw Silverlight and Rssmrry's post about Chrome, I assumed it was the same issue our users reported and that was documented on the Office365 site. As the same issue is also happening in I.E, then perhaps Silverlight is to blame.

So it could have been the pop up blockers after all?

Have you tried to reinstate some of the settings you were using with IE to see if any/which one was causing the conflict?

My money would be on an issue with the silverlight plugin/activex (I'd like to have seen if silver light was enabled in the addons screen). Like I said earlier its not a popup.

pop up/add-on/plug-in ...what is the difference? At the end of the day ...it is something that is added afterwards to the program.

A pop up blocker in my eyes is an add-on.

Pop up is a new web page launched in a new window. Addon is a bit of software that runs within IE. a complete world apart..
