Can't save as Jpeg in CS4 ??

even if i open a Jpeg , edit it , i cant save as jpeg ? Is there something obvious i need to check?

check you have changed the Mode to 8bit

have you created multiple layers and then not flattened it?

i've got no layers , just a quick straighten and a crop. I dont know what i've done , but i can now save as Jpeg and the format list has about 20 options, rather than the 5 i had a moment ago. I have no idea what i've done?

I'll do the same with another image.

Try "save for web" that should allow you to save it as a jpeg.

and strip all EXIF I think teh file is in 16 bit mode as you only get about 5 file types then SO as I said before check the mode is in 8bit

Yep, you're correct. I just tested it (albeit in CS3) with a tiff and psd file and it would only give me half a dozen formats, no jpg. Changed the mode to 8 bit and voila!

Aaaah, that explains things . i played with the raw images and converted to tiff for playing in CS4. in View NX i went for the 16bit option for converting instead of the 8bit.
