I thought I knew what I wanted, which was a 24-70L f2.8 and a 70-200L f2.8 IS, but whilst I still want the 24-70L I am not so sure about the 70-200L.
Help!

I cannot make my mind up whether I should get the 70-200L f2.8 IS or a couple of primes the 135L f2 and the 200L f2.8. I do not think there is a great deal of difference in the price (or the weight) of the two L primes against the zoom.

The IQ of the primes are supposedly hard to beat and work well with the 1.4x converter I already have and area lot less conspicuous.

So with the lineup I currently have:

5D, 30D, 12-24 Sigma, 17-40L, (24-70L), 100 macro 1.4x converter

Would you go for the 135L f2.0 & 200L f2.8 or 70-200L f2.8 IS?

Thoughts please?

Depends what you are going to be using it for, personally the 70-200 would be my weapon of choice, but your use may be better served with one of the primes.

Thanks Susie, but it would be either the zoom or both primes.

My main interest is portraiture and I believe the bokeh on the zoom is good, but on the 2 primes it's supposed to be fantastic.

Ed,

I've got all three of your options with a 5D and a 30D (or 50D), For posed portraits then it's primes all the way....better quality and bokeh (subjective). I nearly disposed of the 70-200 a while back but then woke up to the fact that it's the ideal tool for candid portraits in the street.
