Can't download pics from CF card

I took some pics this morning and tried to download them by inserting the card into the card reader but nothing's coming up. It's telling me to insert the card but it's already in there. If I take the card out and put it back into the camera I can see the pictures no problem and can take pics still. Can anyone help - please??

I know there's been a thread on this before but I can't find it!

Nightmare. Have you got a - another card reader or b - a usb cable to connect your camera to the pc?

I've got the usb cable to connect to the camera - haven't tried that yet. Thanks Don't normally bother to use the cable

Possibly / Probably a bent pin in the card reader.

Me either, but I'd do it to get the images off and sort out the reader after. I'd feel a bit happier once the images are safe And then some clever boffin can come on here and say what's going on, my guess is a dodgy reader.

as db247 says if you have a cable to connect PC and camera try it to check and see if you can get anything off that way, if you can you've ruled out the card as the problem and you can move onto the rest. As you say it still works ok in the camera so I would think the card is ok and either the reader, USB/USB port is knackered.

So If you can read from the camera to PC mess about with the connection, you should have another USB port on the PC so change that, (it may even be that the USB cable is not fully inserted), try and borrow another card reader or try your card in a friends reader and/or PC.

Hope you get it sorted as situations like this are the most annoying (especailly if have some good pics on there)

I got a 2p piece stuck in an sd reader a while back.. still works (though I don't need it anymore). Much rather have the 2p than the card reader now though

Might just need powering down and rebooting, usb ports can be quirky that way.

It's also worth noting that if you look in device manager...under USB Ports, make sure they are all set to NOT 'Let Windows turn off this port to save poewr'.
