Can't believe this Guy

no problem with this.
I take event snaps for a small company
I get paid for the evening, the boss gets all the pics, I print a few for special guests and the boss, also send off fullsized ones for magazines and papers. promotional stuff

the small pics get to facebook for people to see where they came from and if they want prints...well I'm not going to charge £5-10 for a 6x4....I'd rather they spent a fiver and got 4-5 prints than just the one as the prints are more of a novelty.
although some would make great mousemats.

I think the website quoted has a great way to get his prints out there and try to raise some funds.

God luck to you Ged..
I hope you do get enough for you DSLR and become the next David Bailey.
Regards

I don't see a problem with this. At a recent track day I attended the photographer would sell you prints but was much more interested in selling you a CD of all the shots of your car for £20. In my case approx 40 shots for £20.

Mind you - he turned up for about 90 mins, stood on the same corner and shot off 1150ish shots, then put the lot up on his website.

Makes Ged's a bargain.

Prescott Hill climb last weekend there must have been over 40 photographers signed on and given access trackside. I spoke to one of them who was doing it for a hobby and she said she got the trackside pass because she sent the images in for free for them to use in their programme.

Fair play to Ged - he/she's obviously taking hobby shots and selling them for a quid is going to make a lot of people happy. I think, as photograpgers, we do overlook the fact that stuff that isn't technically perfect can be very popular with the general public. Not everyone wants amazing exposure or retouching to die for - I've seen some absolute trash sold for a much higher price than what ged is charging. Fair play and if it gets you a new camera, that's great. :)

Obviously Ged can charge whatever he wants for his work, but there is a risk he's under-pricing himself.
Then theres percived value in goods as well, thats why people pay millions for a cracked old scrap of painted canvas, just because of the name of the painter (lets be honest some were crap) If Geds work is any good it'll sell at a better price, you can be too cheap.

I think its a kid or atleast a youngster. You guys are very quick to sneer.

Hi Ged
I think I owe you an apology, I obviously did not know that you were only 15, looking now at what you are doing to eventualy get yourself a new camera is in my opinion very enterprising and I wish you all the best.
Alan:clap:

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

I was just WISHING this would happen :woot:

FAIR PLAY to you Ged. I hope you earn lot's of ££££££'s mate!

Anyone who fires up a website and sells prints nice and cheap to fund upgrading a camera gets a big thumbs up from me.

Very enterprising, ged. Well done.
If I had a spare DSLR, I'd give it to you!

I have not sold any of my pics, I have an inferiority complex about them, to see someone have the cojones to sell them, i take my hat off, when all is said and done, if people want them, they will buy them.

Ged, I hope you get what you want, and look forward to reading the post when you come on here in an excited haze and tell us all you have the camera you want

Ged, so is mine but I'll let you into a secret.

If you use Mozilla Firefox, there's an add on called British English dictionary, that underlines in red your bad spelling and if you click on it it offers suggestions, rather like in Microsoft word.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3366

It doesn't help my grammar though :D

Good luck with your photography

You know what - the guy has ambition - he want's a 50D :D

There's a donation button on his page - I've left a small starter to the fund Ged

Me too, happy to help an enterprising young man
Surely there's enough nice people on TP to give this chap a good start in photography :)

...I guess whoever likes them... whether it's technically correct not :D

[delete me. double-post forum goodness!]

Good luck to you ged - an enterprising venture.
I reckon you could up your prices a bit mind.

Have you seen his grey snow?
Who is going to buy them any how?
You do realise he is here and posting in this thread yes?
Maybe instead of being subtly scathing you could offer advice on how to overcome grey snow.

Hello there,

I am the owner of Ged Photo and on my website stats i couldent help but notice the amount of hits coming from this thread.
Thank you for all your opinions and as for the spelling, i am only 15.. sooo..
And yes i am saving up for a new camera, and any pictures bought or a donation would be a help :)

I have a hell of alot more shots that arnt on that website, so keep a look out for them up there.

Regards

Ged

15 years old, shooting with a Nikon Coolpix P80, acting more adult and polite than lots of people on this forum and shooting motorsport better than a lot of people i've seen with equipment 100x that value.

I use a Nikon Coolpix P80 for work and i wouldnt want to have shoot motorsport with it.

Welcome to the forum Ged, I hope you stick around - and feel free to post your motorsport in the motorsport section.

I'd rather pay a few quid to a lad who shows a bit of enterprise and manners and obviously enjoys what he does, than a 'pro' who bitches about people selling pictures for too little.

Nice shots from a humble little camera, hope you get your upgrade soon :)

Geds mum - Thank you especially BYKER281 AND ROFL2KG who have given my photographic son something to work on! He is a 15 year old who is trying to make enough money to buy the camera of his dreams, - He is not out there taking drugs, drinking, or mugging old ladies.

THANK YOU FOR GIVING HIM THE INCENTIVE HE NEEDS.

As a complete side note Google Chrome has an automatic spell checker built in... unfortunately it things 'Google' isn't a word ;)

Hi Ged's Mum :D

You should be proud of your young man, he's shown a lot of initiative in setting up his website and actually doing something about his dreams. Aside from that, he's actually shown a lot of "grown ups" on here how to handlle criticism in a polite and constructive manner, however ill-placed and unkind that criticism is. You must be doing something right :)

LOL - it's nice to be in a position to give something back occasionally. Keep up the good work Ged, because it's all one big learning curve.

I really can't complain, he means well in everything he does, which I think is more than we can ask.

Thank you for being so supportive.
