Can't believe this Guy

do we need a linky?? can't find one, am I being daft?

I've heard some people even give their photos away to magazines for free. Would you believe it eh!
:|

They're his pictures, he can sell them for whatever he wants.

Steve.

That could be a member here you know!

Surely it's up to them how much they charge?

He's probably working on the basis that he's more likely to sell a few for a quid each than none for 20 quid each. Looks like he's saving up for a new camera so every little helps I guess.

Is that not a good way for a hobbyist to get his name out there and pictures known, whilst making a bit of cash on the way?

I can't see the problem. he can charge more as demand rises and bookings increase. Good on him I say.

There's an outfit doing race photos on the sly - they turn up shadow the official tog that paid for the rights and then leaflet the car park to pinch sales. On their latest race they're offering to donate £1 for each sale to a charity - the cheapest product is 99p

The problem is the demand comes about because of the low prices, as soon the prices goes up the demand tails off. Seen it happen time and time again :(

** Double post, Iphone got confused!!! Sorry!!

Wow, who's playing around with space-time?

Not looked at it that way, and I guess said fellow hasn't either. Good point you make.

Rob

PS, sorry about the odd double post. My Iphone and Flux capacitor had an argument!!

He's not supplying prints; only e-mailing JPEGS. So it's only costing him a bit of time and in the process he's building a data base of potential customers for 'real sales' .

Well a "Digital full frame shot" is a whole £2, all you get for £1 is a photo type. ???
The "About Me" makes interesting reading.

But fair play to him, he's making more than me...

I know my spelling is terrible but please.
I'd hazard to guess his first language isn't English.

I couldn't care less if he wants to be a loss leader personally. And as said, he's actually selling, which is more the most on here!

come on folks, lets not diss the man for having a bit of balls and getting some sales in! also lets not berate his spelling, none of us here are perfect either (except me of course)

im sure people on here have been to BSB and seen people charging £20 for a 6x4 in a cheap frame and think i can do the same pic for £5 and have £4 profit. makes me think should i charge £20 and sell 50 or charge £5 and sell hundreds with bulk buying dropping my outlay aswell.

Not always about what a single picture is worth.

I think it's a great idea, i can;t fault him for trying. I would be tempted to do the same as him...:)

The digital photos at £1 are not that cheap when he's selling A2 at £2.50 (a typo ).

Pile em high sell em cheap.

If he is selling a few hundred shots a day at a pound a piece he'll be doing better then most of us.

Anyone who posts pictures of MK2 Escorts on his site is OK in my book.

What most people don't think about when they look at photo's is what's gone into getting the pic in the first place and that that just may be reflected in the price. I put work into my shots and as a result appreciate the work that might have gone into someone else's shot..... I never blurt out "sheeeite...£10 for a 7x5, you can get them at Photobox for 20p" etc etc....

Photography nowadays is fast becoming a throwaway trade cos everyone's doing it, everyone wants to do it better with better kit, but because everyone's doing it, the only way some people can differentiate themselves from their competition is to undercut them, not by taking better pictures and charging a "reasonable" price for them.

Free market is great, but when the "market" price for an A4 print is **** all, where do you go from there...............?

My website doesn't get updated that much nowadays cos I'm in it for a business and I'm desparately trying to get that feeling back of actually being ar$ed to take my camera out with me......but it's hard when a "skill" that you're very passionate about is treated as a cheap throwaway commodity and seen as such by so many.

Guy

Might buy some A2 prints actually. Seeing as you can get 12 for the price of 1 A3. In fact, if I send you some pictures, will you print them for me??
