As the title says I have a Canoscan 9900f, which I bought on ebay. It didn't come with any film holders and I wanted it to scan 120 negatives. Does anyone know if I can scan 120 film without the holders? and if so how asI can't work it out.

Or does anyone know where I can get a 9900F 120 film folder from (none on ebay at the moment).

Thanks

Gav

Not 100% sure if the 9900f is a similar layout to the 8800f that i have.

If it is then there's no reason why you cant lay the film directly on the glass bed of the scanner so that it is ligned up with the " negative scanning section" that is located in the lid of the scanner ...hope that makes sense!

If the film won't lay flat then laying a thin piece if glass over it before lowering the lid works ok ...it's what i have to do with 127 format film.

As for picking up 120 holder...perhaps contact Canon for suitable retailer.

if all else fails - there's the "betterscanning" holders... much better than the original canon ones

Ideally the film needs to be held around 0.7mm above the platten glass - you could always get a sheet of anti-newton glass and some plasticard to make a support frame.

I think the film holders in wblati's archived forsales thread are for the 9900F, it doesn't say so but I remember at the time have a bit of a search to see if I could determine what they were for, and I reckon they're for the 9900F, I pm'd wblati with that thought.

Have a look, see what you think, they weren't sold so he might still have them..:)
