Hi there new to this I wonder if u could help me decide what canon dslr I **** go for please help with +ves & -ves of the above 2 cameras any advice would be welcome. Thanks

the 500d is a loverly camera, you won't be dissapointed. am just about to put one on the forem for sale. not sure what the difference to the 450 is but have had great results from mine. Oh by the way welcome!!

I got the caning 1000d in the end enjoying gettin to know/use my camera. Off on a cruise soon and wondered if anyone cud recommend a mono/ tripod

Just bought the Vanguard Alta Pro 263 with SBH100 ball head. Very nice piece of kit.

Worth sticking a thread in equipment or use the search for tripod recommendations as the subject comes up often. It depends what you want it for. The general opinion is that you can have two out of three of cheap, light, sturdy.
If you haven't much money and fancy lightweight and unobtrusive for the cruise, you might consider a gorilla pod.
