No
i have a Canon 60D and although i process/edit in PSE10 i use the Canon Zoombrowser programme to be able to go through and weed out shots initially, as it's easier to one-click your way through a set of shots.

Anyway my problem with ZB is that while I can switch back and forth between photos easily enough it won't - ironically - allow me to zoom in on them.

It's clearly supposed to, as there's more than one button on the toolbar to do so (a '+' and '-' button, plus a slider), but it simply doesn't work (i'm using a decent desktop PC with a large-ish screen btw)

The ideal would be to have a program which allowed me to zoom in and STAY ZOOMED as i switched back and forth between photos, this is particularly useful to gauge the sharpness of birds / wildlife when they aren't taking up the whole shot, ie in the middle-distance.

Of course ZB may do this, but it doesn't on my machine... :bang:

(PS i don't like PSE organiser at all, it's typically proprietary and controlling about how you do things ie having to 'import' your photos when you should just be able to open a folder in Windows).

can anyone help?

Canon DPP will also do this, free on the same disc as zoombrowser.

Edit:

thinking about it and not going on the computer to test I'm not sure if DPP will stay zoomed in while jumping between images.

Im on a mac so it maybe a little different to the windows version of zoombrowser but :

When you double click to view the image on the mac version there is a selector box in the middle of the bottom toolbar for image size, make sure you have this set at a % and not fit to window.

Thanks everyone:

- Crofter, i think you're right
- hollisf - i'll give FastStone a go
- acetone - i've not even found a way to get DPP to go quickly from one image to the next - as far as i can see you have to open each one i a separate window then close it again to look at another - or am i missing something?

cheers

Select all your images
Then use the quick check button on the toolbar
In the new window just press next or previous button on the left panel.

There in a manual for version 3.11, does not have every up-to date feature but still worth a look

To get it to do what you've described you'll need to change the settings so that 'Auto Image Size:' in the Viewer settings is 'Actual Size'.

However, you may prefer the default 'Auto Fit' option, for these reasons. Actual Size will display the next image zoomed in, but it will display the top-left corner. The default option shows the whole image, but left-clicking zooms in to the actual size image. You can then scroll around the zoomed-in image by moving the mouse. Release the button and it zooms back out agin. It really is a wonderfully intuitive method of checking images.
