AAARRRGGGGHHHHH.

Why oh why didn't I read the feedback history before I bid??

So I won my auction (EF 50mm 1.4) on Sunday 18th.

Great.. went to pay and both payment options sent me to a page with an eBay logo and the helpful message "No error message found".

I emailed thinking okay it'll be sorted on Monday.

Almost two weeks later and despite emails and phone calls no-one has been able to tell me anything except "it's being looked into" until today..

"We are contacting you in relation to your recent bid for {eBay item number} on the Canon eBay UK Outlet. Unfortunately, due to a technical issue in our system, we are unable to complete an order for your bid.

We do not have any solution which we can offer you at present.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

We thank you for your patience and understanding."

I'm not feeling very patient or understanding and given that I won at a good price I'm not inclined to let my winning bid drop and take it up directly with eBay and Canon UK.

I don't suppose anyone has any contacts at Canon that could get me to the right person?

Digital River are a bunch of jokers and it seems their operation of the eBay store is doing a big disservice to Canon..

Paul.

Sorry for what happened but the links don't work.
Is it one of the chinese suppliers?

No this is Canon's official outlet store, although it's "run" by a third party (Digital River).

Ireland i believe... had a spot of bother paying when I won a refurb mkIV .. they dont accept visa debit cards.... i was quite suprised...

Thats not fair then, Have you tried calling Canon, as I bet they would be interested in the dealings.

From some of the feedback on eBay, they're having a lot of payment problems at the moment, the store has suspended trading.

There is a note on the store now on how to make payments for items bought recently. Hope you get the problem resolved.

Theyve always had trouble with credit card payments, if you pay by paypal goes through fine 99% of the time.

Hello,

We are currently changing to the ebay checkout which became mandatory starting June 30. During this 2-3 day period there may no new listings and the policies and terms pages will be changing as well as the overall site look and feel. You may continue to complete payment for items purchased before June 30 via the ebay checkout. For Problems, please contact Customer Service using the Ebay account Manager area.

We apologize for any inconvenience..

Typical, just when im looking for a new body ! :) time they got some more mk4's up

Thank you all!

Well it' a good job I checked back here because all the information you just posted about the changes they had not bothered to inform me of.

Their last word was that I had effectively lost the item.

I have now put through payment using Paypal, will see if I actually get the item or not...

I'm sorely tempted to, to give them some feedback.

However I reckon it'd be a real job trying to find and get through to the right person..

Oh dear, may have spoken too soon.

I think they have set up their Paypal on eBay with an email address that's not valid with Paypal.

Doh and sigh.

Paul.

Just to add one good story throughout all these bad ones, I bought my 500D body from their outlet on eBay and everything went smoothly for me!

Well I tried to report the Paypal issue to the Ireland people but the woman didn't get it and just said I hadn't paid and the item isn't available.

Looks like I've lost out on that. :(

Paul.
