Canon to Nikon advice

Ok heres a thought I'd be interested in peoples feedback on...

- Canon EOS 1D Mark IV

good low light AF
fast AF

ok its not full frame but almost.
Fits within your budget but will require full frame lenses.

Pros/cons?
Is it a better camera than the d700?
Weather sealing should be better presumably for going out in UK weather! (Which is another good reason why not to go out with a 5d2.)
What else?

If low light performance is what you are after, I don't see you doing better than the 5D mkii unless you are spending D3X money!

Also, have you had any prints done from your existing shots? A lot of the high iso noise disappears in print. I had a great shot of my nephew that really wound me up because I had to use iso 6400 on my 7D (at the time I had that) and the noise really did nothing for me, but I thought it was a nice one anyway, and slung it on some photo rag paper through my printer as a test piece and I couldn't believe that it was the same image. The noise was negligible and at any realistic viewing distance invisible. It's only at massive crops and huge print sizes that noise will be visible in print, and my personal opinion is that it is a hugely blown out of proportion issue in the non-professional world.

The Nikon D3X is not renowned for it's high ISO ability, you want the D700, D3 or D3S for that, the most cost effective being the D700.

I use a D3x in work and while it is a stunning studio camera, it does struggle somewhat outside that environment, especially when you have to crank the ISO up. Its not bad by any means, but to me a D3s is a vastly superior camera in almost all ways, especially the high ISO performance.

Ah, my mistake D3S IS what I meant! Can't follow all these crazy Nikon models! :D

I use the D700 for amongst others lifestyle pet photography.

It has no problem keeping up with fast moving dogs at all, so children won't be a problem.

I have many prints and canvasses at 4 feet by 3 feet and the image quality is fantastic.

Thanks mark, Think that's the final nail in the coffin.
12mp is plenty for size prints I will be doing.
