Yes
From Canon rumours

Could be anything from entry level upwards.

Can someone ask their aunt who knows someone's mum whose sister is a friend of someone who used to work in Jessops if they have heard what it might be.

I doubt this will be entry level rebel. It just doesn't have that feel. And I hope it is not 5D mkIV, mine is not that old yet :)

there has been a lot of talk about high mp (D800 killer supposedly) or perhaps an answer to nikon's fashion toy and sony r7

It could be one of those 'development' announcements that will come in Q4 in 2015 and go up in price £1k before it is released.

Ah yes could be Rich. From the 'rumours' that could be quite a beast but pinch of salt and all that.

I would like an APS-H sensor in a 7D sized body with WiFi build in and 10Fps oh it needs to be £1499  and really good at ISO 8000....

Sounds good to me Rob, but have a feeling that price might be a tad optimistic

Yes unfortunately.

Also Canon have said that APS-H is dead.

Whatever it might be there is no guarantee that what's under that sheet is the real product, so all that speculation based on enhancing the add seems a bit over the top to me.
Surely a photography forum is the perfect platform to speculate about this sort of affair.

I guess I'm just being a bit of a kill joy. It just makes me laugh at all the clutching at straws that goes on when these sort of things appear.
Well, if you laugh, at least you're getting something positive out of it.

It think 12MP good sensitivity APS-C would be more realistic, but then I doubt marketing department would let this camera come out with less MP than some phones...

By the way until Nikon releases D400 - they don't even need to.

I'll predict a 40MP successor to the 7d, labelled 7d mk2 or maybe even 8d. Just a reveal though, it won't be released until spring next year.
Or a retro styled 'dslr-a-like'.

With the significant deals and price drops on the 6d just lately, it could well be a 6d2?

If this is a 6D replacement and they improve the AF, add an in-built flash and a tilt screen... Well the D610 may end up heading back to john Lewis :-D

Don't think it will be a new 6D its only been out for a while
My guess would be a high MP pro model to compete with the D800
Or maybe the new 7D
Exciting tho:)

If someone at Canon is reading this:lol:
don't change the 7D too much
Make it 20 MP, two card slots and newer sensor with better dynamic range at high ISO

It's the new 1200BS - a 1200x900 full-frame sensor. Full-size image quality is rubbish - but 100% crops at ISO16684000 are fantastic. It'll sell millions.

No proof that the actual camera in question is the one under the computer generated silk cloth, it does look like it will be a 7d2 from the facts though. That image also looks nothing like a full size pro cam, wayyyyy too short to be another 1 series body. It won't be a white body that's already on sale either as the other models have been on the market far too long to justify using a Colour as a market upgrade. I reckon it will either be an 1100d or a 7d2, it does however look like it may have an in built flash judging by the pic, no scroll wheel would also suggest a touchscreen ui on the rear end. All we can do is speculate and make canon employees giggle for the time being though......

Wide but short 'bump' for the viewfinder and not a lot of shoulder space to the left.

Suspect not a xxD series (esp. not with the 70D so new) - nor a 6/7D replacement as no space for the top dial.

Not a 1D series as shoulders uneven height.

Looks like a xxxD or a new xxxxD

I'm not sure what the point is in generating interest purely for a differently coloured body. I suspect it will be something more, something worthy of the 'hype'. After all these things are made to generate hype and nothing could be worse than generating hype and interest in something that doesn't live up to it. Has to be something good!

Unless the 7dII is getting a 1d interface, it's a consumer model. There's definitely a flash and no mode dial. That says XXXd or XXXXd, unless, like I said, the 7d replacement has the 1d button layout, which would put a lot of 7d customers off the upgrade.

I think they are carried over from the Japanese market.

I read that in marketing terms Europe prefers ordered numbers, the US prefers names (eg Rebel) while Japan prefers 'soft' names such as Kiss. Make of that what ye will.
Alternatively the use of names rather than numbers could be due to superstition relating to numbers in Japanese culture. The word for four sounds similar to the word for death for example.
Or it could just be a ploy to ensure that gray imports stand out due to their different name!

I think it's just marketing though, look at the different names cars can have as an example, Nissan 370z is the Fairlady Z34 in Japan.
More photography related, didn't Minolta call their cameras Alpha in Japan, Dynax in Europe and Maxxum in the US ?

Why do Canon give their US/Asian cameras such stupid names - 'Rebel', 'Kiss' etc

I was thinking that the other day.

We accept Mondeo, Clio, Mini, Vantage, yet think nothing of 500SL, 325i or 911
