Canon Supply Issue!

Hi

I ordered a 40D at the beginning of the month, and due to a scratched focusing screen I sent it back. I was just about to ring up the shop and cancel my order and look at getting an import, when they rang to say they had no 40D bodies in stock, but they would remove the lens from the kit and send me that instead.

May be I am being a little cynical but does this sound like Canon are not releasing the body only in an attempt to sell the kit lens?

I think the store which i bought it from has been very good by offering to split the kit, and I would definately recommend www.cameraworld.co.uk to others.

p.s. no I wouldn't consider a nikon so don't even tell me I could of got one quicker....
 
I dont think they are doing it to sell more kit lenses, I think they have either drastically under estimated the demand for the 40D, they have had some major error in manufacturing or they are deliberatly producting small amounts to keep demand high (which I still dont understand).

I have yet to find any UK supplier (ok UK bodies) with stock - WE were expecting some this week, that has now been delayed by two weeks!!! - which is what gives me the idea that something has gone wrong in manufacturing or something.
