Hi All,

As a newbie to photography and having a restricted finance's, I am trying to set up a budget home studio. Currently I own 2 canon flash guns and would like to know, would the Canon ST-E2 trigger suffice.

A friend recommended that I buy the Yongnuo 622's as these will work better and are also better for outside work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Saul.

As your friend said the Yongnuo's will work outside, the ST E2 can be a bit less reliable.

Hiya,

Sorry I'm new to the forum and don't have access to classifieds. How much are they going for?

Saul.

Sorry can I ask what you think of them? As this will be a long term investment so want to get it right the first time (if poss)

Thanks

Just a gentle reminder guys but the classifieds rules and access criteria are there for good reason :)
I know it can be frustrating when you're waiting, but please don't be tempted to try to trade outside of that area.

Thanks.

p.s. And welcome aboard Saul

Ive used STe2s in the past, including the on-board equivalent in some cameras, and to think that someone would compare them to a YN622 beggars belief.

Get the 622s, assuming you have EXIIs that is

Kris is right - the 622s deliver almost all of the Canon technologies, but by a fast, reliable radio comm. But it also adds several extensions which remove some of the Canon limitations.

However, your 5Dc does not have flash control menus, which the 622 uses as its control interface. The flashes you have may also have limitations.

Take a look at p.4-5 of TOYUG:

Sorry didn't realise... and thank you.

I am actually in the process of upgrading the body to either the 5D 2 or the 6D, hopefully they both have flash control. the flashes I have are the 580 EXII and the 430 EXII.

How many triggers/flash heads would be a good starting point?

Saul.
