Wanting to move my CANON 420EX speedlite from hot shoe onto a straight bracket coupling it with my CANON 600D.
As the Canon 600d is wireless set and Canon indicate no cables needed wondered appears some people are using a extension cord,
this has thrown me slightly what advantage if any would using one give me .
GEORGE.

Hi George. I believe the 420EX is wireless compatible so you may be able to set the pop-up flash on the 600D as a master and the 420EX as the slave for wireless flash on a bracket.

I'm pretty sure you would need a canon off shoe flash cord, they're about £30 maybe cheaper if yongnuo (or someone else) make one but it will be called an off shoe flash cord for canon.

With regards to wireless, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but it means infra-red so it depends where the bracket puts the flash but your pop up flash will also have to go off to trigger it.

Getting any of the RT line is radio transmission rather than line of sight infra-red. I think yongnuo make a receiver you can now put on any flash to make it work with the ST-E3-RT if you want to keep your flash and go properly wireless. Others make wireless triggers as well.

Hi Mark the 420EX is wireless compatible so seems that road could well be the best way to go using the pop up as the master.
Appreciate your contact and advice.
Many thanks .
GEORGE.

Hi Jon thanks for contact looking like the wireless route, not wanting to spend to much to see if macro really is for me.
At present only got a Canon 60mm macro lens if take to macro may well go for the 100mm macro lens.
Appreciate your time and advice.
GEORGE.
