Canon Speedlite 430EX or 430EX II - Which one is better?

I've been looking for a 2nd hand canon 430EX speedlite for over a week or so now, and there have been a couple i'd been bidding on ebay for, which have been selling for about £170 including P&P like the one below:

and there are a few im watching, which seem to be going into the same price range.

After having a look at the 430EX II, i can get a brand new one from the likes of amazon or bristol cameras for around £170.

I cant really understand why people would pay £170+ for a 2nd hand 430EX, when you can get a brand new 430EX II for the same price.

So my question is: Whats the difference between the 2?

I know the 430EX II is the replacment for the 430EX with a few extras, but is it better than the 430EX.

if you think the extras make it better than yes it is better but i got the Mk1 because kerso sells it for £140 :D

Yeah i've also got that option in the mix aswell:lol::)

It's just trying to make the right decsion on which one to buy that i've got the problem with.

how do you find the sigma?

I've heard others say it's a but difficult & fiddly to use?
 
I've not used it a great deal only had it since just before Christmas but I can't really fault it. My main use is for a bit of bounce flash to liven up indoor shots of family and friends and it does this seamlessly. I've had a play with some of the more advanced settings and while the user interface isn't great it's certainly not as difficult as some seem to make out especially if your willing to RTFM as required.

For the money it represents incredible value especially second hand when someone else has already taken the dereciation hit that all non oem kit suffers from.
 
Picked mine up in the members market here, might be worth placing a wanted I'd also check some of the other popular forums like AVforums or POTN.
 
Yeah i might go with the Kerso option, just got an e-mail from him this morning with the price.

although, still to check out the classifieds.

I'm thinking of a 530DG Super too.

I'm correcting in thinking it can trigger other 430ex's ?
 
I have the 430EX and it does the job for most of my needs. You can't trigger other flashes with it though, I think.
