I have the 550EX speedlight and of late it has developed a problem, I load it with a set of fully charged batteries and with the gun turned off the batteries discharge in a matter of a few hours, I know its not the batteries as I have charged them and left them for a week and they keep a full charge, just wondering is this a one off or a common problem, any thoughts ?

I think it could be your batteries as keeping them constant trickle chrage is not a good idea - i think it does more harm.
With all due respect I did'nt say that I had left them on charge while out of the gun!
But no matter the problem seems to have resolved itself, but thanks for the suggestions anyway
