Basically my 400d got dropped and the pick ups that allow the camera and the lens to talk to other got broken. (the four little golden bits at the front)

I sent it for repair as it was under warranty, but they wanted to charge me £200 to repair it as it had been dropped, however the part was only a few quid, labour made up the majority of the price.

In my haste I bought another 400d so I don't need to worry about not having a camera, or destroying the camera further, but I am now l trying to find a website or shop that sells the parts so i can replace it myself, with no luck so far, all it comes up with is battery and lens parts. Does anyone know of anywhere where i could get such a thing? Or has a broken 400d that they want to sell for parts?

Regards, Joe

I know Nikon users have a repair group on Yahoo. Perhaps Canon users have one too?

shaun 32, I would sell the broken 400d if after searching i couldn't fid a spare part, but that probably wouldn't be for a month or so.

Is it covered by your household insurance?

I've used the following company in the past for my 400D spares; They are an official Canon service centre so should have the part you need.

Give 'em a ring, they are usually quite helpful.

H.LEHMANN LTD
Tel:01782 413611
Fax:01782 744579
email:service@lehmannsdirect.co.uk

Incidentally, which part do you need?

thanks for all your help, really appriciate it, i'll give it a try. i'm not sure what its called, but if you look into the camera body from where the lens would fit, its the little line of golden knob springs. the plate unscrews and if i could get another it should be okay, as only the the springs have been destroyed.
