Canon has posted new versions of the following software:

Canon RAW Codec 1.0 for Windows Vista
ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b Updater for Windows
ImageBrowser 5.8b Updater for Mac OS X
Digital Photo Professional 3.0 Updater for Windows
Digital Photo Professional 3.0 Updater for Mac OS X
EOS Utility 2.0 Updater for Windows

To get these, browse to the Canon Downloader Library and select your camera model. The select the option for "Drivers / Software".

Cool - thanks for the tip. I wish Canon would make use of their resources to notify their registered users when updates are available :bat:

Grassy ass, I'd just updated to the previous versions last week :)

btw anyone know how to get camerawindow to work in XP or if it's not possible?

Its possible and works on my desktop PC - I couldn't tell you how to set it up though!! It works with downloading straight from memory card whereas EOS utility works when connecting a camera.

What I was hoping to do with it was add a theme to my 30D with my name and contact details as a security measure.

You'll need to use the EOS utility to that.
It's easy to do if I remember right, I had now problems added my name and new styles to my 30D

If I open Zoombrowser and click on Edit 'Manage MyCamera' it opens a pop up window where you can select various themes, including ones you create for yourself. If I then click on connect to camera it gives me the message "A supported device cannot be found" this is because it's trying to use CameraWindow which on my XP machine will not run. It insists that the 30D is not compatible.

Do you reckon there's another way to do this? I've not found one, EOS utility does not have this feature.

Does anyone actually USE zoombrowser?

After camera window downloads the pictures, zoom browser always opens and I always have to shut it and open rawshooter or something else.

Now of course, Lightroom opens whenever I put a card into the pc...so no need for any of the Canon stuff.

 Does anyone in fact install the Canon software on their system

Ermm... I did and still use. Until someone tells me there is something better out there, I will continue to use it. What's lightroom Janice? Is it for converting RAW files?

My brother uses it and says he likes it better than Photoshop for doing a large numbers of shots.

I must admit I used it a little last year and produced some wonderful colours quite easily. Gone back to Photoshop CS2 myself now though.:)

It converts RAW files, Gilly, yes.......but also manages all your photos on your computer with keywords etc etc. quite an all-encompassing package.

(sounds like JonnyReb's trousers!!!):D

Thanks - Just downloading and hopefully the RAW codec for vista allows me to view the thumbnails of RAW files when i'm usinf File explorer.

yup, I've downloaded that too, for exactly the same reason. It's a bonus being able to browse through raaw thumbnails in Windows, rather than having to load up raw software.

Up until getting my 30d/installing vista, I always use the EOS utility.

Its just an easy way for me to get my pictures on there before I start to process them.

I have a directory in my pictures called camera, the eos utility creates a folder based on shooting date in there, I'll process the stuff, delete the rubbish and then move them into category folders later when I have a sort out.

Excellent, I will install the RAW codec tomorrow, always wanted to do that :)
