HELP!!!

I've managed to mislay the driver disk(s?) for my little postcard printer and want to be able to use it with my netbook while I'm on holiday. Does any kind soul have a copy of the disk that I could beg, borrow or rent?

The disk will be returned as fast as possible (of course) and anyone who can help will be thanked muchly!

I've tried downloading the driver on the Canon site but it doesn't work - the 'puter tells me that a driver isn't required, although the same 'puter asks for a driver to be installed when I try plugging the printer in...

Have you read the instructions for installing the driver you downloaded from the Canon website...

If the downloaded driver doesn't work and no one has a disk you can borrow.

Eos Magazine will sell you a disk and manual (possibly last resort)

Thank you. I have the manual, it's just the disk that's hiding! Looks like I'll have to buy both from that Magazine since they don't do the software only.

Desantnik, can't see any instructions that relate to installing the downloaded software but if you could point me toward some, I would of course follow them. Clicking on the Setup.exe icon just tells me that I don't need to install the driver for the printer in XP.

It's not really the end of the world if I can't run the printer from the computer since I'll still be able to print the originals using either the PictBridge link or inserting the CF card into the printer.

Hmmm yes, that is odd they don't tell you how to do it.

Its probably going to be do with installing the driver before you plug in the device? Did you try that?

Yes.

Don't worry about it, I'll get a new disk from EOS Magazine as per the link above.

Thanks for the help anyway.

Shame I've got the CP740 so my discs may not be compatible. From your original post it sounds more like an instalation problem. Maybe you could try a full uninstall of all the printer's drivers etc and then try again. I've found sometimes that printers don't always install correctly on the first go. :)

Thanks for any and all help - I've bitten the bullet and ordered the disk and a(nother) manual from EOS Magazine in the hope that it'll do it properly from a physical disk rather than a downloaded driver.

Maybe a mod could lock this thread now - at least then I won't get an offer of a freeby now I've stumped up for the blinking thing!!!
