Canon refurb at Focus

I'm looking for a 7D body and wondering if the Canon refurbs at £899 at Focus on Imaging show are worth a saving of £100 over the Jacobs Focus special of £999 brand new?

Can you check a refurb before buying. I would want to know the shutter count for example.

I know they have a warranty but if it was a camera with intermittent problems for example then the extra £100 might be worth it. :shrug:

Canon refurbs come with shutter count set to zero, the 1d3 I got yesterday has.

You get a six months warranty but for an extra £100 I'd go for a full priced £999 body for the extra 6 months peace of mind.

I'm not too bothered as I use a camera far less than they are capable of being used.

Chris, I'm not sure they reset the shutter count, I suspect yours just may not have been used!!
One of my friends bought a 40D a couple of years ago and it showed 500 ish shutter actuations.
i saw the 1D3 at Jacobs, a good buy at £1299!!

Yup it sure was but I got mine from Cameraworld, it was a tad more but is absolutely mint in every way. I'm chuffed except I'm having a nightmare registering it with my CPS as it appears to have been registered previously.

I did wonder about the zero count but the manual is definately used but everything is still in sealed bags. It just has the wrong strap which I have no worries over as I don't like Canon straps.

The ones at Jacobs had definately been used as there where a few marks and scratches on them :d

As far as I understand, Refurbed cameras don't necessarily have to have been ever used. They could be returned, un-opened items. Demo used or if they have been refurbed shutter count should be extremely low. I bought my first camera (Canon 350D) as a refurb and it had just been unwanted and sent straight back to the shop untouched.
